Joined Project: School Computer Donation

On 23 June 2026, our club Lions Club of Penang Straits Quay joined the Penang Lions Clubs Computer Donation Project to donate computer equipment to SJK(C) Poi Eng, SJK(C) Tar Thong, SJK(C) Yang Cheng, and SMJK Sacred Heart.
The project aimed to enhance digital education facilities, improve students’ access to technology, and support more effective teaching and learning.

Joined Project: Lions Health Carnival

On 14 June 2026, our club Lions Club of Penang Straits Quay had joined the Lions Health Carnival at 1st Avenue Mall, Penang, in conjunction with World Blood Donor Day. The event featured blood donation, Dental Health Screening, Kumpulan Wang Simpanan Pekerja (KWSP) Employees Provident Fund (EPF) enquiry, sugar level testing, TCM treatment, blood pressure testing, BMI checks, will-writing consultation, hearing tests, and organ donation pledge registration.

Thank God, and sincere appreciation to everyone who supported this event. We successfully collected a total of 141 pints of blood that day.

Dear Distinguished Lions dignitaries, fellow Lions, friends, ladies and gentlemen,

06/06/26 — A Day of Blessings, Successfully Completed.

This special date carries a very meaningful significance to me.
The same combination of 06/06, Saturday, and a year ending with 6 will only happen again 50 years later, on 06/06/2076.

I am truly honoured that during my term as President, I had the opportunity to witness and complete this important milestone together with everyone — the Lions Club of Penang Straits Quay 10th Anniversary Celebration & Charity Dinner.

This was not just a dinner, nor merely a celebration.
It was the result of teamwork, mutual support, dedication, and the collective effort of many wonderful people.

Throughout the preparation, there were pressures, challenges, and many difficult moments.
However, with the strong support of our Lions members, distinguished guests, organising committee, sponsors, and friends, this ultimate “final battle” in my heart has finally been successfully and meaningfully completed.

From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely thank everyone who attended, assisted, contributed, and supported this memorable event.
Without all of you, this meaningful night would not have been complete.

Lion spirit remains unchanged, ten years as one.

Lions Club of Penang Straits Quay is grateful to have successfully participated in the Multiple District 308 Lions Convention 2026.
The President Dr Edward Ooi and DC Chew were honoured to represent the Lions Club of Penang Straits Quay, to learn, connect, and witness the unity, fellowship, and service spirit of Lions.
As representatives of our club, The President Dr Edward had completed the main convention activities, including:
~ Attending the First Plenary Session & Opening Ceremony
~ Convening the Multiple District Convention
~ Discussing district affairs and future directions
~ Adopting the annual reports and convention matters

The Lions Club of Penang Straits Quay has successfully completed this year’s Environmental Awareness Project.
Our heartfelt thanks to the Presidents and fellow Lions from all 28 participating clubs for your unity, support, and dedication, which made this meaningful project a great success.
Environment is one of the Eight Global Causes of Lions Clubs International and an important service area that should never be overlooked. This project was also especially meaningful as it marked the first collaboration between Lions Clubs and Tzu Chi Foundation, setting a great example for future cooperation.
Special thanks to Tzu Chi Foundation for providing a wonderful platform and professional guidance, allowing fellow Lions to better understand environmental protection and gain valuable practical knowledge.
Let us continue to uphold the spirit of “We Serve” and work together to protect our planet and serve our community.

环保是国际狮子会八大志业之一，也是一个不可忽视的重要服务领域。本次活动更别具意义，因为这是狮子会首次与慈济基金会携手合作，为未来的合作树立了良好典范。
同时，特别感谢慈济基金会提供一个优良的平台与专业指导，让狮友们能够更深入了解环保的重要性，并获得宝贵的实践知识。
让我们继续秉持 “We Serve 我们服务” 的精神，携手合作，以行动守护地球、服务社会。

President Dr Edward Ooi of the Lions Club of Penang Straits Quay, representing the club, was honored to participate in and support this meaningful community service project.
The project was organized by the Lions Club of Bukit Mertajam Horizon and received generous support and contributions from 60 Lions Clubs across 10 countries, as well as many kind-hearted donors. Together, they built a garden gazebo for the public to rest, interact, and hold community activities.
During the event, Lions members also distributed food and ang pows to the underprivileged, bringing care and warmth to those in need.
This meaningful initiative was successfully recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records, showcasing the Lions’ spirit of unity, selfless service, and dedication to the community.

此项目由大山脚地平线狮子会主办，并获得来自10个国家的60个狮子分会以及多位热心人士的共同参与与捐助，携手建造一座公园凉亭，供公众休息、交流及举办社区活动使用。
活动当天，狮友们也向贫困人士分派食物及红包，为弱势群体送上关怀与温暖。
该项目更成功获得《马来西亚纪录大全》（Malaysia Book of Records）认证，充分展现了狮子会团结合作、无私奉献及服务社会的精神。

In the noble spirit of “We Serve,”
President Dr Edward Ooi (MJF, DF) of the Lions Club of Penang Straits Quay, together with Lion Datin Sri F***y Tan (MJF), generously contributed to the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) & celebration of the 147th Melvin Jones Birthday. The President Dr Edward Ooi also supporting the District 308 B2 Charity Fund and service initiatives.
The club also proudly achieved 100% participation from all members in supporting LCIF, reflecting the unity and dedication of Lions members in advancing humanitarian service.
These contributions will support humanitarian efforts locally and globally, including community assistance, medical care, disaster relief and social welfare programs, bringing hope and compassion to those in need.
