Our President Belinda Ong, Secretary Merlin Gasper, and Vice President Sanny Mok had a wonderful time attending the 46th District Annual General Meeting at Premier Hotel, Klang.

Beyond carrying out our duties as voting delegates, the true joy was being reunited with our beloved Inner Wheel Sisters across District 330. It was a day filled with heartfelt fellowship, genuine smiles, and tightening the bonds of sisterhood that make Inner Wheel so special.

A big thank you to District Chairman Saras and her team for bringing us all together under one roof. Here’s to another inspiring year of service, friendship, and sisterly love! 🌸🤝

A Beautiful Night of Elegance & Sisterhood!

What a wonderful night at the Premier Hotel for the "Petals of Elegance" installation ceremony on the 18th Sept 2026! The absolute main feature of the evening was the official installation of our new District 330 Chairman for 2026/2027, Saraswathy Veloo, proudly hosted by her very own home club, the Inner Wheel Club of Klang.

We at IWC Pearl of the Orient, Penang were so happy to be part of this magical night. During the evening, IPDC Jillian delivered a touching speech to thank her entire dedicated 2025/2026 District Committee, presenting the outgoing team with lovely tokens of appreciation to honor their hard work. A specially proud moment for our club was seeing our very own Merlin Gasper up on stage! She received a beautiful thank-you gift from IPDC Jillian as a token of appreciation for her outstanding service during her term as District Webmaster 2025/2026.

The solemn installation ceremony from IPDC Jillian Estrop to DC Saras was a deeply heartfelt moment of officially passing the baton over to the new leadership.

Stepping into her new role, DC Saras gave a warm speech and officially acknowledged her incoming District EXCO. The night was also hilarious, enjoyable, and especially lucky for us when our member Sanny won the grand prize at the lucky draw—a 1-night stay at the Premier Hotel in Klang in a Heritage room!!!

Overall, the night was a strong show of sisterhood and fellowship between Inner Wheel members, where ladies beautifully mingled and embraced the pure joy of meeting up. A huge note of thanks to the host club, IWC of Klang, for their wonderful hospitality!

Congratulations to DC Saras and her team. Here’s to a blossoming and successful year of friendship and service ahead for District 330!

DC's September Message

Dear Inner Wheel Sisters,

Warm greetings!

As we enter the third month of this Inner Wheel year, I am truly inspired to see our clubs moving forward with enthusiasm, friendship and a strong commitment to service.

On 8th August 2026, I attended the 27th Installation of the Inner Wheel Club of Klang, my own club. The theme, Azure Elegance, beautifully reflected an evening of graceful celebration, inspiring leadership and warm fellowship. The Past President’s dedicated leadership and the incoming President’s charismatic speech made the occasion even more meaningful and memorable.

On 15th August 2026, I made my first official District Chairman’s Visit to the Inner Wheel Clubs of Kuantan/Indera Mahkota. I was impressed by their excellent preparation, well-preserved historical records and engaging question-and-answer session. That evening, I had the honour of attending their 39th Installation Night, themed A Touch of Rose, a memorable celebration of past achievements and future aspirations.

In between these visits, the District Executive Committee and I have been actively preparing for our upcoming District Annual General Meeting. I sincerely appreciate the dedication, cooperation and teamwork of every EXCO member working behind the scenes to ensure its success.
District Chairman and District EXCO Installation, themed Petals of Elegance, will be held on 18th September 2026 at Première Hotel Klang. It promises to be a memorable evening of celebration, elegance and fellowship.

This will be followed by the 46th District AGM and Training on 19th September 2026. I warmly encourage every member to join us. Your presence, active participation and valuable ideas will strengthen our clubs and help shape the future of our district.

While social media reflects the wonderful fellowship and service taking place across our clubs, it has also brought distressing reports of women and girls facing bullying, abuse and emotional distress, with some tragically losing their lives to su***de.

These incidents remind us to look beyond what we see. Someone close to us, our mother, sister, daughter, friend, colleague or fellow Inner Wheel member may be silently struggling.

As we approach the Orange the World campaign, let us go beyond raising awareness. Let us listen without judgement, speak with kindness and create safe spaces where women and girls feel heard, valued and supported.
Sometimes, one sincere question, “Are you truly okay?, can open a door to hope.
“A caring heart may not solve every problem, but it can give someone the strength to face another day.”

Let us lead with purpose, serve with compassion and become a source of hope to those around us. Together, let us Grow and Flourish and help others do the same.

Bound by Love, Service, and Sisterhood: An August of Fellowship

At the heart of Inner Wheel lies a steadfast commitment to three core objectives: promoting true friendship, encouraging the ideals of personal service, and fostering international understanding. Together, these values build a dynamic, borderless sisterhood that deeply enriches members’ lives—offering purposeful avenues to serve communities while forging enduring personal connections.

A vital expression of this camaraderie is the tradition of inter-club fellowship, particularly through celebrating leadership transitions. Installation ceremonies honor the solemn induction of incoming Club Presidents while serving as vibrant celebrations of solidarity, mutual respect, and joy.

This spirit of unity was on full display in August 2026, when members of the Inner Wheel Club of Pearl of the Orient, Penang traveled to support sister clubs across regions:

Beyond the formal ceremonies, the month concluded on an especially warm and memorable note. On August 30th, members were blessed to share a delightful Nyonya brunch, lovingly prepared by Judy and her team from IWC Penang. Nothing nourishes the soul better than food cooked to perfection and made with love—the single, timeless ingredient that binds us all together through Inner Wheel.

Attending these installations and gathering around shared tables allowed members to witness new chapters of leadership while sharing laughter and renewing longtime ties. By showing up for one another, Inner Wheel members continually reinforce the vital truth that service and sisterhood are two sides of the same coin—meaningful change begins with connected, supportive communities.

Club ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2026

Following a morning filled with purpose at our Bear of Hope Project at Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital, members gathered at Lava Mansion on 25 July 2026 for a fellowship lunch ahead of the Club’s Annual General Meeting.
The gathering embodied the enduring spirit of friendship and service that defines Inner Wheel, setting an uplifting tone for the significant proceedings ahead.

The AGM commenced in the private meeting room with the symbolic lighting of the Candle of Friendship & the Poem, led by President Belinda Ong and IPP Dr. Janet Lim. Formal business was conducted with clarity and efficiency under the stewardship of Secretary Helen Chew and PDISO/PDW Merlin Gasper, covering key year-end reviews, elections, and constitutional alignments for the 2026/2027 term.

Key Highlights & Handover Traditions
• Presidential Installation: IPP Dr. Janet Lim officially installed President Belinda Ong with the solemn, time-honoured garlanding of the Presidential Collar, marking a graceful transition of leadership.
• IPP Pin Presentation: IPP (2025/2026) Lisa Yeap pinned the IPP pin on Dr. Janet Lim in deep appreciation of her steadfast devotion and stewardship over the past year.
• Welcoming New Members: Tan Jen Nie, Vivianne Lee, and Norizan Binti Shaari were warmly welcomed into the fold, each presented with a single rose—a timeless symbol of Inner Wheel sisterhood.
• Expressions of Gratitude: Dr. Janet Lim presented each member with a thoughtful token of appreciation, while the club surprised her with a pearl bracelet and ring set in honour of her service. Beautiful floral bouquets were also presented to both Dr. Janet Lim and President Belinda Ong.
• Fellowship Celebrations: The sisterhood celebrated July birthdays for Sue Shaari and Jen Nie with a cake, sharing joyful moments while fondly keeping member Lim Su Earl in thought, who was unable to attend.

With the Executive Committee for the 2026/2027 term officially installed, the Inner Wheel Club of Pearl of the Orient, Penang enters the new term inspired to Grow & Flourish.
In her maiden address, President Belinda pledged to lead with heart alongside every member, expressing heartfelt thanks to the club for championing her anchor initiative, the Presidential Tadika Project, as we unite to nurture meaningful community impact in the year ahead.

Stitched with Love: The Bear of Hope Handover at MMCH

On the morning of July 25, 2026, the promise of warmth and comfort came full circle as the Inner Wheel Club (IWC) Pearl of the Orient, Penang made its heartfelt visit to Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital (MMCH).
The original Bear of Hope project was first initiated in 2023 by then-President Janet Chong. Inspired by how deeply successful and well-received that first effort was, Bear of Hope 2.0 was born as a seamless continuity of love, chosen as the signature Presidential Project of Dr. Janet Lim for presidential term 2025/2026. Together, IPP Dr. Janet Lim and Project Lead PP Janet Chong, alongside President Belinda Ong and fellow club members, arrived at the hospital bearing the fruits of fellowship and community care, greeted warmly upon arrival by MMCH Community Development Assistant Manager Ms. Patricia Yuen.
Delivering Beacons of Hope
Carrying with them the lovingly stitched bears crafted by the Teoh family in Melbourne, Australia, the very first set of the handmade bears was officially handed over to the hospital for distribution to patients. Fashioned with love and inspired by Australia’s trauma bears, these gentle companions are ready to bring solace to patients admitted to the hospital. In the midst of the challenging battle against cancer, each bear stands as a soft, comforting reminder to each patient that they are resilient, cherished, and never alone on their journey.
A Place of Rest: Donating Patient Benches
True to the project's dual-impact mission, the club also officially handed over two outdoor seating benches funded through the proceeds of the Bear of Hope initiative. Placed within the hospital grounds, these sturdy new benches offer patients, caregivers, and visiting families a peaceful, comfortable space to rest, catch their breath, and find moments of quiet respite during trying days.

A Morning Wrapped in Love
The morning was enveloped in profound warmth and grace. Knowing that these handcrafted bears will serve as true beacons of hope brought smiles and full hearts to everyone present—hospital staff, visitors, and club members alike.

Through collective goodwill, IWC Pearl of the Orient, Penang has once again proven that when hands stitch with love, hearts are touched forever.

Hearts Across the Sea: Celebrating Sisterhood & Looking Ahead to 2027!

What a beautiful way to wrap up an unforgettable trip! After our successful joint project at SK Malawa, 6 members from IWC Pearl of the Orient, Penang (District 330) and 4 members from IWC of Kota Kinabalu (District 331) gathered at Smokies in Kota Kinabalu for a celebratory fellowship lunch.

Amidst fantastic food and incredible merriment, President Margaret Michael Awang shared her heartfelt gratitude with our visiting delegation. But the magic didn't stop there! Right at the table, a brilliant spark was ignited, and a brand-new joint project for 2027 was officially born! To seal the deal, we enthusiastically joined hands around the table in a symbolic "MOU" to set the 2027 initiative in motion, aiming for completion by next June. Thank you, IWC Kota Kinabalu, for your unmatched hospitality and precious friendship. Land and sea are truly no match for a shared purpose!

Joining Hands Over Land & Sea!

On June 19, 2026, IWC Pearl of the Orient, Penang (D330) teamed up with our wonderful sister club, IWC of Kota Kinabalu (D331), to bring the core Inner Wheel mission—“Reach & Inspire for a Better World”—directly to Sekolah Kebangsaan Malawa in Sabah!
With 500 out of the school's 2,100 total students currently registered on school aid, our joint assistance was timely, deeply impactful, and full of heartfelt fellowship! Here is a quick wrap-up of how we made a difference together:

Classroom Modernisation: We combined forces to allocate RM 2,000.00 to purchase and install a brand-new Smart TV for the specialised Kadazan-Dusun Language Room, instantly upgrading daily interactive learning!

Student Welfare Support: To directly uplift vulnerable children, our joint efforts distributed 240 pairs of new school socks and 200 pieces of brand-new Padini clothing straight into the hands of the students.

Academic & Cultural Motivation: We sponsored all 24 competition prizes across four traditional school cultural finals (including the Pertandingan Akhir Manangon and Sugandoi) to keep heritage alive! Our very own Mulen Berimbun was even invited to serve as an official panel judge!

Community Fellowship & PIBG Aid: IWC POTO proudly donated RM 500.00 to the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) fund and hosted a beautiful morning fellowship breakfast to bring together the school leadership, PIBG team, and all visiting Inner Wheel members! We were so honored to be warmly welcomed by Headmaster Encik Mazlan bin Osman, Encik Yusuf Matusin (PIBG), and the dedicated faculty. Both of our clubs are absolutely thrilled by this cross-strait success, and we hope it inspires these bright young minds to pay the kindness forward for generations to come!

The Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital’s (MMCH) “Ho Chiak” Food & Fun Fair Event was a resounding success. Bringing together community spirit and delicious food, the vibrant charity fair featured over 70 stalls offering an incredible array of local favorites, home-cooked meals, snacks, desserts, plants, flowers, toys, and accessories.

The Inner Wheel Club (IWC) Pearl of the Orient, Penang was proud to participate once again in this meaningful annual anchor project to support the hospital’s welfare fundraising efforts.

Freshly Made with Love & Care
Our dedicated members poured their hearts into setting up and running our food stalls. To ensure every customer enjoyed our treats in the freshest state possible, our food items were prepared freshly just before the event. Our stall proudly featured a wonderful mix of local delicacies and essential support items:
• Healthy Innovations: Vegetable and fruit skin mantou (steamed buns).
• Penang Favorites: Traditional Tambun Pneah biscuits.
• Tasty Snacks & Refreshments: Convenient biscuit packs and refreshing mineral water.
• Patient Comfort Essentials: High-quality adult diapers to directly assist patient care needs.

A Heartwarming Contribution
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our stall brought is more than RM 3,500 in sales & contributions to the MMCH Fund.
In line with our commitment to the cause, the cost of all items was fully absorbed by the Club and our generous donors. This means 100% of the full proceeds have been donated directly to the Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital to support the welfare of cancer patients navigating their recovery journeys.

Turning Compassion into Action
An event of this scale is only possible through collective effort. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all our wonderful members and donors who volunteered their time, energy, and resources to make this event such a triumph.
We are incredibly proud to support this vital project year after year. As we look forward to exploring even more ways to uplift those in need, we walk away from this year's fair reminded that together, we can make a significant impact and bring hope to many lives in our community—one step at a time.
