Ah Soh's Place Ah Soh's place is an neighborhood folk garden that narrates the lore and life in traditional George Town. Once a home, then a shop.

The garden is located opposite Chew Jetty Shell right next to Lim Motor. Ah Soh's place shares the garden with the local community and is a project in placemaking to turn the neighborhood dread into the pride of the neighborhood. What little that is left of the place today, its value and spirit still holds true. Plants play a very important role in the medicinal, culinary and often ceremonial prac

tices of local Penang. Even it’s name, Pulau Pinang comes from a local areca nut palm. In this garden you will find many plants that are unique and essential to the everyday culture of the local population. Initially a derelict house fronting a quaint urban neighborhood, the project continues on the efforts of the local community to rehabilitate the space and relies on their good nature to thrive. Ah Soh’s place is a commissioned project by George Town Festival 2013.
