SAMA Dog Adoption Penang, Whole of, George Town (2026)

Maghra was once a stray in Bukit Mertajam Penang, surviving quietly on the streets. She gave birth to four beautiful babies in the wild. Sweet, gentle, and trusting despite everything life had thrown at her. She was brought into safety under our combined Project Pluto, finally getting a chance she had never known.
Then disaster struck.
When out of the blue a distemper outbreak hit the mummy dogs. Maghra had to be separated from her babies and moved to an abandoned house turned emergency isolation space. One of her puppies had already been adopted the others would never make it.
Maghra was without her babies, alone in a cage
Weak. Shaking.
Her puppies gone.
Fighting distemper with limited medication, in heartbreaking conditions.
At one point, we had a small team supporting 5 adult dogs and 13 puppies, struggling daily to find enough medication, injections, and supplies. There were moments when it felt impossible. But Maghra kept fighting quietly, bravely, even when her little body was failing her.
After 3½ long months of daily injections and sub-cuts, we finally moved her to a foster house. And for the first time in her life, Maghra knew comfort. Safety. Kindness.
She blossomed into what she truly is a dear, gentle soul who lights up your heart the moment you meet her.
Just when we thought her suffering was over and she was ready to be neutered and adopted, another blow came: TVT (a transmissible cancer).
It shocked us, she had been nine months away from any male dog but there it was.
Her first chemo jab weakened her terribly. She didn’t have enough blood for the second. We supported her with good food, supplementsand sheer determination. Slowly, she grew stronger. She went on to her second jab.
And now the good news we’ve been praying for✨
After her third chemo injection, the tumour has shrunk so much that this should be her last treatment. Fingers crossed
Maghra TVT treatment is not included in our neutering budget and her treatments have been ongoing, unexpected, and costly. We are humbly appealing for funds to help cover her medical care, so this beautiful girl can finally move forward healthy, healed and ready for a home.

Mint is a young male dog, about 9 months old, with a heart full of love. He is incredibly sweet and manja and will stare lovingly into your eyes with pure adoration, as if he’s asking to be chosen.
Whenever people visit the dogs, Mint and his siblings become so eager and desperate for attention. They clamber around, all wanting to be close, all hoping for a touch, a kind word, or a moment of affection.
To be lost in his eyes and happy face is so lovely.
It’s impossible not to feel how much they long for human connection.

Mint looks like he may have a little Labrador blood, even though he’s a mixed breed, which makes him unique among his siblings.
However no matter, they all look good to us!
He comes from a family that has been through so much and it would mean the world if Mint could finally know what it feels like to have a forever home and a family of his own.
If you’re unable to adopt, perhaps fostering Mint would be an option. It would help prepare him for adoption. And if you’re unable to do either, please share his story. Someone you know may be looking for a gentle soul just like Mint.

Truly’s story began on the side of a dangerous road, where she was found skinny, small, and all alone. Two animal activists couldn’t bear to leave her there, even though they were headed off on a trip. They scooped her up — and so began her second chance. She was so sweet that they named her Truly, Truly Scrumptious, after the song with the words: “My heart beats so unruly, because I love you truly. Honest, truly, I do.” That’s exactly how they felt about her.

Truly is a beautiful reddish-brown girl with a gentle soul. She has been adored ever since, but sadly she has spent years in boarding, overlooked and unseen. Loved, yes — but still without the one thing she needs most: a home of her own.

She deserves to know the warmth of family life, not just the walls of a kennel. Can someone please give Truly the chance to be cherished in her twilight years?

Adoption is a forever commitment. Please open your heart to Truly — she’s been waiting so long. 💛

Julia is in SAMA Penang 's adoption programme.
She had a big lump and has come through surgery and she’s done amazingly well ✨
The surgery was a big one. Confirmed cancer, but it was completely and cleanly removed 🙏 She came through with flying colours and has already been discharged. We are beyond thankful to Dr. Ooi & Vet for taking such incredible care of her.

Julia is truly special. Even going through major surgery, she never stopped smiling. She is pure joy, always happy, always gentle, always loving. She gives the juiciest kisses, adores her people, and brings warmth wherever she goes.
If someone could open their heart and adopt Julia, she deserves a home where she can be well monitored, well fed, deeply loved, and cherished as the wonderful companion she is.
She deserves the very best 💕🐾

Meet Chester from Penang! 💛

Chester’s journey began years ago when he was found emaciated and struggling to survive. Since then, he’s been in boarding, waiting patiently for someone to notice him. He’s a cream-coloured sweetheart with the gentlest nature — but sadly, no one has ever looked twice at his photo, and when visitors come, he’s often tucked away upstairs, which is lovely but can mean missing out on the chance to be seen.

Chester doesn’t just need a home — he needs a voice. He needs people to know he exists, to visit him, to share his story, to let him feel valued, heard, and loved. He deserves to be more than a forgotten soul to the outside world

Mercy is a young girl at 1+ Yr Old. She has been spayed and vaccinated.
She is a real affectionate love bug. And is used to sleeping on the bed with her people at her foster home. Mercy is an indoor dog.

Micra is one of the brave little pups housed at the abandoned house where many weren’t so lucky. Against all odds, he has dodged parvo and distemper — he’s healthy, full of life, and ready for his chance at a safe, loving home. 💖

Right now, he needs either:
🏠 A foster home — even short-term would make a huge difference.
💞 An adopter — someone to give him the forever home he deserves.
