槟榔屿万宁同乡会日前欢庆两个意义非凡的时刻——首先举行会所修缮工程竣工揭匾仪式，随后举办温馨欢乐的中秋联欢会，吸引众多万宁乡亲、会员、家属及亲友踊跃参与，共度佳节。 揭匾仪式旨在向尊敬的林慧英国会议员、妇女、家庭及社会发展部副部长致以诚挚谢意，感谢她一直以来的支持，并批准拨款3万令吉，协助同乡会进行会所围墙维修工程，以及更换支撑屋顶、已经腐朽的木梁，及时解决会所多年来面对的维修需要。 多年来，同乡会会所不仅仅是一座建筑物，更是乡亲们相聚交流、维系情谊、传承传统和留下美好回忆的温馨家园。因此，这次修缮工程的完成，其意义远远超越硬体上的改善，更体现了大家对这个珍贵家园的持续关怀与守护，也象征着万宁乡亲共同珍惜及传承这份情感与归属。 揭匾仪式结束后，现场随即展开热闹温馨的中秋联欢会，老少乡亲欢聚一堂，在充满温情与节庆气氛的环境中共庆中秋。现场准备了丰盛的自助餐、传统月饼及各式中秋佳节美食，为晚宴增添浓浓的节日气息；精彩的游戏环节则带来了阵阵欢笑与欢乐。 其中，提灯笼游行更是当晚的一大亮点。孩子们与大人手提各式灯笼，在欢声笑语中一起参与这项深具意义的中秋传统，让这份珍贵的节日文化得以延续。晚会最后以精彩的幸运抽奖为压轴，幸运得奖者在众人的欢呼、掌声与笑声中领取丰富奖品，为整个庆典画上圆满句点。 这不仅是一场欢乐的庆祝活动，更体现了槟榔屿万宁同乡会一直以来的精神——珍惜与传承乡亲文化，凝聚社区情谊，并通过友谊与传统，将不同世代紧紧联系在一起。这场温馨的庆典也再次提醒我们，珍贵的传统与浓厚的乡情，将继续一代一代传承下去，绽放光彩。 愿槟榔屿万宁同乡会继续成为万宁乡亲温暖而亲切的家园，让珍贵的传统得以延续，让乡亲情谊不断加深，也让一份份美好的回忆代代相传。
Penang Wanning celebrated two meaningful occasions—the Plaque Unveiling Ceremony marking the completion of renovation works at its premises, followed by a joyous Mid-Autumn Festival celebration that drew an enthusiastic turnout of Wanning community members, families and friends. The plaque unveiling was held to thank YB Lim Hui Ying, the Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development and Member of Parliament for Tanjong, for her kind support and approving of RM30,000.00 in funding assistance towards the much-needed repairs to its boundary wall and to replace the decaying wooden roof support beams of the premises. For many years, the association’s premises have been more than just a building. It has been a place where members gather, friendships are nurtured, traditions are shared and memories are created. The completion of the renovation works therefore carries a significance beyond the physical improvements—it represents the continued care and commitment to preserving a cherished home for the Wanning community. Following the unveiling ceremony, the celebration continued with a lively Mid-Autumn Festival gathering, bringing together members of the Wanning community, from the young and old, in a warm and festive atmosphere. A sumptuous catered buffet dinner, traditional mooncakes and Mid-Autumn delicacies added to the festive atmosphere, while games added plenty of laughter and fun. A highlight of the celebration was the lantern parade, with children and adults carrying lanterns and keeping this cherished Mid-Autumn tradition alive. The evening concluded with an exciting lucky draw, with prizes presented to the lucky winners amidst cheers and laughter. More than just a celebration, the occasion reflected the enduring spirit of the Penang Wanning—preserving our heritage, strengthening community bonds and bringing generations together through friendship and tradition, reminding us that our traditions and community spirit continue to shine brightly from one generation to the next. May Penang Wanning continue to be a welcoming home for the Wanning community, where cherished traditions are preserved, friendships flourish and beautiful memories are created for generations to come.

Following the approval of a RM30,000.00 grant by the office of YB Lim Hui Ying, the Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development and Member of Parliament for Tanjong, towards Penang Wanning to support the reconstruction of perimeter wall and repair of the temple, the association promptly commenced the necessary works, including the procurement of materials and engagement of workers. Today, we proudly celebrate the successful completion of the newly reconstructed perimeter wall and the temple repairs, marking a significant enhancement to our premises and a meaningful milestone in Penang Wanning’s continuing journey of preservation, progress and service to the community. This achievement stands as a testament to the generosity, trust and unwavering support of YB Lim Hui Ying, whose invaluable contribution has made this important project a reality. Penang Wanning extends its deepest appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to YB Lim Hui Ying for her steadfast commitment and kind support. The newly completed perimeter wall now stands proudly as a lasting symbol of unity, goodwill, community partnership and shared responsibility – a reflection of what can be achieved when public service and community spirit come together with a common purpose. 盂兰胜会是一个传统节庆，旨在缅怀先祖与已故亲人，并向他们表达敬意与追思。在槟榔屿万宁同乡会，我们怀着虔诚与敬畏之心诚心祈福，感谢先祖一直以来的牺牲、指引，以及他们在我们生命中长久而深远的陪伴。这项流传已久的传统提醒着我们，尊重自己的根源、传承文化遗产，以及维系世代之间的情感与联系，是何等重要。祈福仪式结束后，我们焚烧金银纸与色彩缤纷的纸扎祭品，作为献给先祖的象征性礼物。按照传统，这些祭品是为了安抚与慰藉先人的魂灵，表达我们对他们的敬意，同时祈愿他们在另一个世界也能得到妥善的照顾与安宁。
The Hungry Ghost Festival is a traditional occasion dedicated to remembering and paying respects to our ancestors and departed loved ones. At Penang Wanning, prayers were offered with sincerity and reverence, expressing our gratitude for their sacrifices, guidance and enduring presence in our lives. This age-old tradition reminds us of the importance of honouring our roots, preserving our cultural heritage and keeping the bond between generations alive. Following the prayers, joss papers and colourful paper offerings were burned as symbolic gifts to our ancestors. According to tradition, these offerings are made to appease and comfort the spirits, expressing our respect and ensuring that they are well cared for in the afterlife.

马来西亚万宁第28届第一次会议日前假雪隆万宁同乡会顺利举行。来自槟城、雪兰莪、马六甲及柔佛各属会的新任理事成员出席会议，共同就彼此关心的事务进行交流与讨论，并进一步加强各属会之间的合作与联系。此次会议为新一届任期展开了积极的序幕，再次彰显各属会携手同心、持续团结合作，以及守望相助的共同承诺。会议结束后，雪隆万宁同乡会安排在附近餐馆举行午宴，让与会成员在温馨融洽的气氛中进一步增进彼此情谊与交流，促进会员之间的团结与友谊。
Malaysia Wanning’s 1st Meeting of the 28th Term, attended by newly elected council members from affiliated associations in Penang, Selangor, Malacca and Johor, was successfully held at Persatuan Ban Ning Selangor & Wilayah Persekutuan. The meeting brought them together to discuss matters of mutual interest and strengthen cooperation. The meeting marked a positive start to the new term, reaffirming the shared commitment to continued unity, cooperation and solidarity among all affiliates. After the meeting, Persatuan Ban Ning Selangor & Wilayah Persekutuan hosted a luncheon at a nearby restaurant, allowing members to further strengthen fellowship and camaraderie in a warm and cordial atmosphere.

Congratulations to Persatuan Ban Ning Selangor & Wilayah Persekutuan on the successful hosting of their 79th Anniversary Dinner. The celebration was well attended by many guests, including representatives from Penang Wanning, as well as Wanning affiliates from Johor and Melaka. The evening was filled with lively singing and dance performances and inspiring speeches, creating a joyful and memorable experience for all. A special highlight was the swearing-in ceremony of the Wanning Malaysia committees, held on stage in the presence of members and guests. The anniversary celebration was more than just a dinner and entertainment. It was a meaningful gathering that strengthened the bonds of clanship and cooperation among the Wanning communities in Malaysia. It also reminded us of the importance of preserving our heritage, maintaining close relationships, and working together for the betterment of our associations and communities. We thank and appreciate Persatuan Ban Ning Selangor & Wilayah Persekutuan for their invitation and warm hospitality. It was our pleasure to join them in celebrating this important milestone.

Penang Wanning hosted a celebratory dinner at Daily Fish Restaurant, Logan Road in Penang to mark the conferment of the Darjah Johan Negeri (DJN) honorary title upon Cheah Chor Khim by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang in conjunction with His Excellency’s birthday celebrations. The dinner was attended by association members, associates and friends. Penang Wanning Chairman Hoo Chiew Chuan and Vice-Chairman Shee Kye Chew extended their congratulations to Cheah on the conferment of the title and, in their speeches, expressed their pride in his achievement on this significant occasion. They also shared the good news that the association’s application to the office of its constituency’s Member of Parliament, YB Lim Hui Ying, for a RM30,000.00 contribution towards the repair and maintenance of the termite-infested temple roof and the construction of the boundary and fencing wall had been approved. The approval represents a welcome boost to the association’s ongoing efforts to preserve, maintain and improve its premises for the benefit of its members and the community. Cheah expressed thanks to all who attended the celebration and for their continued support, guidance and friendship. He remarked that the honour reflected not only his personal achievement but also the collective contributions of the association and its members. He thanked everyone for their warm wishes and hospitality and wished Penang Wanning continued success, together with good health, happiness and prosperity for all. To further commemorate this special milestone, a congratulatory announcement was also published in the local newspaper, conveying warm congratulations and best wishes to Cheah on the conferment of the honorary title. As a token of appreciation, Cheah presented auspicious red packets (ang pow) to all attendees in appreciation of their presence and continued support. The thoughtful gesture added warmth and festive cheer to the evening, bringing the celebration to a joyous and memorable close.

The Tanjung@40Walk created a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with a fellow Wanning clansman whom we had never met before. Anson Neoh shared that his father had brought him to the association’s premises on several occasions in the past. Although he is a member of Penang Wanning, he has not been actively involved and had never participated in any of our events. We hope that this encounter will inspire him to engage with us and reconnect through our shared lineage and Wanning heritage. He came to the walk accompanied by his wife. Our meet-up was arranged via whatsApp messages after discovering that we would be participating in the same walk. What began as a simple exchange of messages eventually led to a warm and meaningful face-to-face encounter. Moments such as these remind us that Penang Wanning is more than just a gathering of members; it is a platform that brings people together, strengthens our bonds, rekindles connections, and deepens the ties that unite us as a Wanning family.

Penang Wanning’s motto, “A ten-thousand-mile journey begins from a Wanning heart,” inspired us to take part in another fun 4km walk around George Town, starting and ending at King Street in Penang. The Tanjung@40Walk, organised by the office of our parliamentarian, YB Lim Hui Ying, provided us an opportunity to stay active while expressing our gratitude for her continued support of our association’s past activities. We kicked off the morning with some light exercises before embarking on a relaxed and refreshing walk, catching up with friends and mingling with the lively crowd. Every step we take is a step towards better health, stronger social bonds and a more supportive community. The morning was remarkably meaningful, filled with energy, laughter and shared company—truly reflecting the spirit of Penang Wanning.
