WAQF & CROWDFUNDING FOR SUSTAINABLE FREE-RANGE CHICKEN PROJECT: MADRASAH DARUL QURAN, RATANAKIRI, CAMBODIA
Madrasah Darul Quran (MDQ) served as a dedicated host for Yayasan Salam Malaysia during the Qurban and Humanitarian Missions in Cambodia in 2023 and 2024. Located 560 km from Phnom Penh, MDQ sits in a remote area, far from urban development and public attention. Despite these challenges, the Madrasah has consistently produced high-quality and excellent Hafiz (Quran memorizers). This is exemplified by 18-year-old Bukhari bin Abdul Rashid, who emerged as the champion of the 2025 National Tahfiz Competition, which saw participation from 14 other madrasahs across Cambodia.
Currently, MDQ is facing severe financial constraints. For over a year, teachers' salaries have been capped at only RM300 per month, and at times, they receive no payment at all. To sustain the students' basic food needs, the teachers cultivate their own paddy fields. They also take on manual labor in cashew plantations to cover the madrasah’s essential expenses. Previously, MDQ attempted small-scale poultry farming and vegetable cultivation, but these efforts faltered due to a lack of revolving capital.
Following discussions with MDQ, a sustainable free-range Chicken Project has been proposed. This initiative is envisioned to generate long-term sustainable income, provide a consistent source of protein for the students, and serve as a practical platform for students to acquire vital life skills.
To achieve this goal, a total of RM53,130.00 (Fifty-Three Thousand One Hundred and Thirty Ringgit) is required. Generous donors may contribute through two channels:
WAQF: To fund permanent assets amounting to RM32,500.00.
DONATION: To fund non-permanent assets and operational costs for the first 4 months, amounting to RM20,630.00.
These contributions are divided into 5 packages, as displayed on the accompanying poster.
May our compassion and sincerity support the struggle and survival of MDQ in nurturing the Al-Quran generation in Cambodia. Let’s join hands to Drive Meaningful Change.
Thank you.
