22岁的李佳恬，早前因脊椎侧弯恶化至50度，长期饱受腰酸背痛困扰，在社会大众的关怀与支持下，已顺利完成脊椎侧弯矫正手术。

日前，佳恬在母亲陪同下，特别到访大山脚瑶池金母慈善基金会（ONE HOPE CHARITY），亲自向所有曾经帮助她的善心人士表达感谢。

自小患有轻微脆骨症的她，过去经历过多次手术与长期复健。即使身体承受病痛，她依然坚持半工半读，希望靠自己的努力完成学业、改变人生。如今，随着手术顺利完成，也让她终于看见重新拥抱正常生活的希望。

佳恬坦言，过去长期背痛不仅影响生活，也让她对未来感到担忧，如今完成手术后，心里终于放下了一块大石。她也会继续努力完成学业，不辜负每一份来自社会的帮助与鼓励。

22-year-old Lee Kah Tian, who previously suffered from worsening scoliosis that had progressed to 50 degrees and endured long-term back pain, has now successfully undergone corrective spinal surgery with the care and support of the public.

Recently, Kah Tian, accompanied by her mother, specially visited One Hope Charity in Bukit Mertajam to personally express her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who had supported and helped her throughout this journey.

Born with a mild brittle bone condition, Kah Tian has undergone multiple surgeries and long periods of rehabilitation since childhood. Despite living with constant physical pain, she continued to work and study at the same time, hoping to complete her education and change her life through her own efforts. Now, with the surgery successfully completed, she finally sees hope for a healthier and more normal life ahead.

Kah Tian shared that the long-term back pain had not only affected her daily life, but also caused her great worry about the future. After successfully completing the surgery, she finally feels a huge sense of relief. She also hopes to continue working hard to complete her studies and not let down everyone who had supported and encouraged her.

早前因下颌骨巨大肿瘤而引起社会关注的26岁青年Mohamad Khamarul，在大众热心协助下，所需的8万令吉手术费用已顺利筹足，并将于6月10日进行手术治疗。

病人早前因患上下颌骨成釉细胞瘤（Mandible Ameloblastoma），导致下颌严重肿胀变形，不仅无法正常进食及睡眠，就连最基本的站立和行走也变得困难，情况令人心疼。

Mohamad Khamarul也透过本会向所有帮助过他的善心人士表达感激。他表示，自己原本一度感到非常绝望，如今终于能够安心准备接受手术，也让他重新看见希望。

26-year-old Mohamad Khamarul, who previously drew public attention due to a massive tumour on his jawbone, has successfully raised the required RM80,000 for his surgery with the help and generosity of the public. He is scheduled to undergo surgery on June 10.

Mohamad Khamarul was previously diagnosed with Mandible Ameloblastoma, which caused severe swelling and deformity of his jaw. The condition not only affected his ability to eat and sleep normally, but also made it difficult for him to even stand and walk properly.

Through One Hope Charity, Mohamad Khamarul also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone who had helped him. He shared that he once felt extremely hopeless, but is now finally able to prepare for the surgery with peace of mind and renewed hope for the future.

91岁的赖明珠早前因中风导致行动能力大幅退化，日常生活需他人照顾，同时也面对尿失禁问题，长期需要使用尿片及饮用营养奶粉维持基本身体状况。由于年事已高，行动十分不便，大部分时间只能留在家中休养。

目前，赖明珠由62岁的儿子照顾生活起居。儿子没有固定工作，平日靠捡拾纸皮及废弃物变卖维生，收入微薄，仅能勉强应付母子俩的日常开销。面对长期照护及生活物资费用，家庭经济压力沉重。

除了日常饮食开销，赖明珠每月仍需尿片、奶粉及基本干粮支持，长期下来对家庭而言是一项持续负担。

Lai Meng Chu, 91, suffered a stroke which severely affected her mobility and left her dependent on others for daily care. She also experiences urinary incontinence and requires long-term use of diapers as well as nutritional milk formula to maintain her health. Due to her advanced age and weak physical condition, she is mostly confined to resting at home.

She is currently cared for by her 62-year-old son, who has no fixed income and survives by collecting and selling recyclable items such as cardboard and scrap materials. His earnings are minimal and barely enough to support their daily living expenses. The ongoing cost of caregiving and essential supplies has placed significant financial pressure on the family.

Apart from daily meals, Lai continues to require diapers, milk formula, and basic food supplies every month, creating a long-term burden on the household.

After assessing their situation, One Hope Charity has decided to provide milk formula, diapers, and food aid to help ease their financial difficulties and ensure that this elderly mother and son receive the basic care and support they need.

“我现在连嘴巴都关不上，每天一直流口水、流血水，连睡觉都很痛苦。我真的很怕，怕自己等不到孩子长大...”

下巴上的巨大肿瘤，已经把26岁的生产部主管折磨得不像原本的自己。原本只是一个小肿块，如今却大到几乎占据整个下颌，不仅让他说话困难、无法正常进食，就连最基本的站立和睡眠，也成了一种煎熬。

来自槟州大山脚的26岁Mohamad Khamarul Bin Johariusin，5年前开始发现下巴出现肿胀。起初只是轻微隆起、不痛不痒，他一直以为只是普通牙龈问题，直到肿瘤越来越大，情况开始失控。

这些年来，他四处求医、拔牙、抽脓、检查，却始终找不到真正病因。直到去年底，他的下巴已经肿大到无法闭上嘴巴，整张脸严重变形，才终于被确诊患上下颌骨成釉细胞瘤（Mandible Ameloblastoma）。

【肿瘤不断扩大，已严重影响正常生活】

如今，他的下巴肿瘤体积已大得惊人，犹如脸上挂着一袋沉重的肉块，不仅不断流出口水、脓液及血水，也压迫神经导致长期头痛、失眠及身体失衡。

他已经无法正常咀嚼，只能靠粥水、牛奶及软烂食物维持体力。由于肿瘤重量过重，他甚至无法久站，连洗澡站超过3分钟都必须坐下休息，走路也开始不稳定。

更令人担心的是，医生警告，若继续拖延，肿瘤未来可能发生癌变，甚至导致下颌骨骨折，后果不堪设想。

他曾被转介到政府医院接受治疗，医生原本计划为他进行全下颌骨切除及骨移植重建手术。但由于手术极度复杂，下颌骨周围神经连接脑部，过程中甚至可能导致中风或死亡，所以才被转介到专科医院。

医生告知，完成手术后约两个月即可逐渐恢复工作能力，未来也有机会重新装上假牙，恢复正常生活。

然而，这项保命手术费用高达8万令吉，对如今已经陷入困境的一家人而言，无疑是天文数字。

Mohamad Khamarul原本月薪4187令吉，但自去年9月开始已被迫拿无薪假至今。公司已通知，若5月后仍无法复工，他将面对失业。妻子Nurul Aisyah Vanaja（27岁）是家庭主妇，两人育有两名年幼孩子，分别只有1岁及3个月大。

如今，这名26岁的年轻父亲，正在与病魔拼命争时间。他不是想放弃人生，而是想活下去；想继续工作养家；想看着1岁的儿子长大，也想亲手抱着才3个月大的女儿，陪他们走更远的未来。

经过家访及审核，大山脚瑶池金母慈善基金会（One Hope Charity）议决协助筹募所需费用。家属亦已正式委托本会全权处理筹款事宜及代收善款。

“I can’t even close my mouth anymore… saliva and blood keep flowing every day, and even sleeping has become painful. I’m really scared… scared that I won’t live long enough to watch my children grow up…”

The massive tumour growing on his jaw has completely changed the life of this 26-year-old production supervisor. What started as a small lump has now expanded to the point where it has almost taken over his entire lower jaw, making it difficult for him to speak, eat normally, or even perform basic activities like standing and sleeping without suffering.

Mohamad Khamarul Bin Johariusin, 26, from Bukit Mertajam, Penang, first noticed swelling around his jaw about five years ago. At the beginning, the swelling was small and painless, and he thought it was merely a gum problem. However, as the tumour continued to grow larger over time, the situation gradually spiralled out of control.

Over the years, he sought treatment everywhere, undergoing tooth extractions, drainage procedures and countless medical check-ups, yet doctors were unable to identify the real cause. It was only by the end of last year, when the swelling became so severe that he could no longer close his mouth and his face became badly deformed, that he was finally diagnosed with Mandible Ameloblastoma.

【Tumour Continues Expanding, Severely Affecting Daily Life】

Today, the tumour on his jaw has grown to an alarming size, resembling a heavy mass hanging from his face. It constantly leaks saliva, pus and blood, while also pressing against surrounding nerves, causing chronic headaches, sleepless nights and balance problems.

He is now unable to chew food properly and survives mainly on porridge, milk and soft foods. Due to the extreme weight of the tumour, he can no longer stand for long periods. Even while showering, he is forced to sit down after standing for more than three minutes, and he has also begun experiencing difficulty walking steadily.

Even more worrying, doctors warned that if the tumour continues to be left untreated, it may eventually turn cancerous or even cause his jawbone to fracture, leading to devastating consequences.

He was previously referred to a government hospital for treatment, where doctors planned to perform a total mandibulectomy together with bone graft reconstruction surgery. However, due to the complexity and high risks involved, as nerves surrounding the jaw are connected to the brain, the surgery could potentially result in stroke or even death, which was why he was eventually referred to a specialist hospital.

Doctors explained that if the surgery is successful, he may gradually regain the ability to work within about two months, and may even be able to have dentures fitted again in the future to restore a more normal life.

However, the life-saving surgery costs RM80,000, an amount that is impossible for the family to afford under their current circumstances.

Mohamad Khamarul previously earned a monthly salary of RM4,187, but has been on unpaid leave since September last year due to his worsening condition. His employer has informed him that if he is unable to return to work after May, he may lose his job.

His wife, Nurul Aisyah Vanaja, 27, is a housewife, and the couple has two very young children, a one-year-old son and a three-month-old baby daughter.

Today, this 26-year-old father is racing against time in his battle against the disease. He does not want to give up on life. He simply wants the chance to survive, continue supporting his family, watch his one-year-old son grow up, and hold his baby daughter in his arms as she grows through the years ahead.

今天（5月10日），“黑人罗惹”邓亚福叔叔（Uncle Hock）出殡。家人用他最熟悉、最放不下的那一盘Rojak，送他最后一程。

在举殡仪式开始前，大儿子一早亲手准备了一盘Rojak，静静摆放在父亲灵前。

那盘Rojak，和平时卖给顾客的一样。有熟悉的酱料、花生碎、新鲜蔬果，也有一家人几十年来的生活与回忆。

邓叔这一生，几乎都守着这一档Rojak。很多大山脚人从小吃到大的味道，也是他每天清晨开始准备、坚持了半世纪的日常。

如今，许多人熟悉的那道身影，从此只能留在回忆里。

【Funeral & Burial Assistance】“Rojak Orang Hock” Uncle Hock, Who Accompanied Bukit Mertajam for More Than Half a Century, Has Completed His Final Journey

Today (May 10), “Rojak Orang Hock” Uncle Teng Ah Hock was laid to rest. His family sent him off with the one thing he was most familiar with and held closest to his heart — a plate of rojak.

Before the funeral procession began, his eldest son personally prepared a plate of rojak early in the morning and quietly placed it in front of his father’s altar.

The rojak looked just like the ones he used to serve to customers every day — with the familiar sauce, crushed peanuts, fresh fruits and vegetables, along with decades of memories and the livelihood of the family.

For almost his entire life, Uncle Hock stayed devoted to this humble rojak stall. The taste that many Bukit Mertajam residents grew up with was also the routine he faithfully prepared every single morning for more than 50 years.

Now, that familiar figure whom so many people knew can only remain in memory.

It was truly a heartbreaking scene to witness.

Mohamad Ali Irfan, the 16-year-old boy who was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect (ASD) after suddenly collapsing during sports activities, has now successfully undergone his heart intervention surgery, and the entire procedure went smoothly.

The football-loving teenager had previously suffered from frequent shortness of breath, declining stamina, and even sudden fainting spells due to his heart condition, leaving his family deeply worried. Thankfully, with the love and support from the public, the required surgery funds were successfully raised, allowing him to receive timely treatment.

Recently, accompanied by his family, Mohamad Ali Irfan expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Bukit Mertajam-based One Hope Charity and all kind-hearted donors who helped him through this difficult journey.

The family shared that during their most helpless moment, it was the generosity and support from the public that gave their son a chance to continue growing up healthily and brought immense relief to the entire family.

Currently, Mohamad Ali Irfan is recovering well after the surgery. Doctors have also confirmed that the procedure was successful, and he now only needs regular follow-up check-ups and proper rest for recovery.

向来在球场上奔跑自如、身体一向健康的16岁少年，近来却在踢足球时频频气喘、脸色发白，甚至突然当场晕倒。家人怎么也没想到，这名热爱运动的少年，体内竟隐藏着先天性心脏缺陷（ASD），如今必须尽快接受心脏介入手术，否则随时可能面对无法预料的危险。

来自柔佛的Mohamad Ali Irfan Bin Nor Azizi，是一名住校学生，平日只有学校假期才会返家。自去年开始，他在运动后开始频密出现不适，尤其踢足球时情况最明显，不但容易喘不过气，体力也明显下滑。

由于他从小热爱足球，过去身体状况一直良好，因此家人一开始并未察觉异样，只以为是普通疲劳或体能下降。期间，家属曾多次带他前往诊所及医院检查，但始终无法找出真正病因。

【学校突发晕倒，辗转检查后才确诊心脏问题】

直到后来，他在学校突然昏倒，校方紧急将他送院接受进一步检查，医生才发现问题竟出在心脏。经过详细评估后，最终确诊患上先天性心房中隔缺损（Atrial Septal Defect，ASD）。

医生指出，Mohamad Ali Irfan目前已不适合进行剧烈运动，只能进行轻度活动及维持正常上学。

他的心脏问题随时爆发，医生建议尽快手术，但整体手术与医疗费用预计高达5万令吉，家人仅能负担2000令吉。

父亲Nor Azizi Bin Mohamad是一名小型承包商，母亲Norshahida Bt Mohd Saleh则是家庭主妇。家中共有4名孩子，Mohamad Ali Irfan是长子，其余弟妹目前仍在求学阶段。

家人如今最大的心愿，就是希望孩子能够尽快完成手术，减低健康风险，也让他未来还能像其他同龄孩子一样，安心求学、继续追逐自己热爱的足球梦。

A once active and healthy 16-year-old who used to run freely on the football field has recently been experiencing frequent shortness of breath, pale complexion, and eventually collapsed during a football session. His family never imagined that behind the healthy appearance of this sports-loving teenager was a congenital heart defect (ASD) that now requires urgent heart intervention surgery before the condition becomes life-threatening.

Mohamad Ali Irfan Bin Nor Azizi, from Johor, is a boarding school student who usually only returns home during school holidays. Since last year, he began experiencing discomfort after physical activities, especially while playing football. He would easily become breathless and his stamina declined significantly.

As he had always been active and healthy since young, his family initially thought it was merely fatigue or reduced fitness. They brought him to clinics and hospitals multiple times, but doctors were unable to identify the real cause of his condition.

【Collapsed Suddenly at School, Later Diagnosed with a Heart Defect】

It was only after he suddenly fainted at school that the seriousness of his condition was uncovered. The school immediately rushed him to the hospital for further examination, where doctors discovered that the problem was related to his heart. After detailed assessments, he was diagnosed with Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), a congenital heart condition.

Doctors have advised that Mohamad Ali Irfan is no longer suitable for strenuous physical activities and can only engage in light activities while continuing his schooling.

His heart condition could worsen at any time, and doctors have strongly recommended immediate surgery. However, the total estimated cost of the surgery and medical treatment is RM50,000, while the family is only able to afford RM2,000.

His father, Nor Azizi Bin Mohamad, works as a small-scale contractor, while his mother, Norshahida Bt Mohd Saleh, is a housewife. Mohamad Ali Irfan is the eldest among four siblings, while his younger brothers and sisters are still schooling.

The family’s greatest hope now is for their son to undergo surgery as soon as possible, reduce the health risks he faces, and allow him to continue his studies and pursue the football dream he loves so much like any other teenager.

After a home visit and case evaluation, the Bukit Mertajam-based One Hope Charity has agreed to assist in raising the required medical funds. The family has also officially entrusted the organization to handle the fundraising campaign and receive donations on their behalf.

【陪伴大山脚半世纪的“黑人”罗惹Uncle Hock，走了...】
【 “Rojak Orang Hock”, Who Accompanied Bukit Mertajam for Half a Century, Has Passed Away…】

很多人来到大山脚，都会想起那一盘熟悉的Rojak。
而站在档口前、总是笑着招呼顾客的邓亚福叔叔，也早已成为许多人记忆中的一部分。

现年77岁的邓亚福，在大山脚经营“黑人罗惹”超过50年。从年轻时推着手推车在戏院前摆卖，到后来几经搬迁，他始终坚持亲手调配酱料，使用新鲜水果，也坚持守着那份属于老字号的人情味。

然而，今年4月7日清晨约7时，邓叔如常准备前往档口时，不幸与一名摩托车骑士发生碰撞，随后紧急送院抢救。

当时医生一度诊断他出现肋骨断裂、肺部出血及脑部淤血等严重伤势，更曾两度注射强心针，并进行开胸手术抢救。后来转入加护病房接受进一步治疗后，情况才逐渐稳定。

虽然之后意识逐渐恢复，也开始接受物理治疗，但仍需要长时间疗养与照护。

早前，本会团队也到医院探访邓叔，并了解协助安排疗养院事宜，希望帮助邓叔度过关键康复期。然而，昨日（5月6日）邓叔却因心脏病发离世。

对许多大山脚人来说，失去的不只是一个卖罗惹的小贩，而是一份从童年陪伴到长大的味道。

愿邓亚福叔叔一路好走。
也愿家属节哀顺变。

【 “Rojak Orang Hock”, Who Accompanied Bukit Mertajam for Half a Century, Has Passed Away…】

For many people, a visit to Bukit Mertajam would always bring to mind a familiar plate of rojak.
And the man standing behind the stall, always greeting customers with a warm smile — Uncle Teng Ah Hock — had long become part of many people’s memories.

77-year-old Teng Ah Hock had been operating the well-known “Rojak Orang Hock” stall in Bukit Mertajam for more than 50 years. From pushing a handcart to sell rojak outside cinemas in his younger days to relocating countless times over the years, he remained committed to preparing his signature sauce personally, using fresh fruits, and preserving the warmth and human touch of a true old-school hawker stall.

However, at around 7am on April 7 this year, Uncle Teng was on his way to prepare for business as usual when he was involved in a collision with a motorcyclist. He was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Doctors initially diagnosed him with severe injuries, including fractured ribs, bleeding in the lungs, and blood clots in the brain. He was reportedly given cardiac stimulant injections twice and underwent emergency chest surgery to control the bleeding. After being transferred to the intensive care unit for further treatment, his condition gradually stabilised.

Although he later regained consciousness and began undergoing physiotherapy, he still required long-term nursing care and rehabilitation.

Earlier, our team had also visited Uncle Teng in the hospital and assisted in arranging nursing home care, hoping to help him through the critical recovery period. However, yesterday (May 6), Uncle Teng sadly passed away due to a heart attack.

For many people in Bukit Mertajam, what was lost was not just a rojak seller, but a taste and memory that had accompanied them since childhood.
