🩵A New Beginning for Children & Families — Malaysian Children’s Hospice Penang🩵
On 23 August 2026, we celebrated a truly meaningful milestone — the Inaugural Opening Ceremony of Malaysian Children’s Hospice Penang at No.6, Tingkat Batu Uban 3, Gelugor, Penang.
The ceremony was officiated by Penang State EXCO for Social Development, Welfare and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs, YB Lim Siew Khim accompanied by Pengarah Hospital Pulau Pinang by Dr Goh Hin Kwang; President Of Malaysian Association of Paediatric Palliative Care (MAPPAC) Dr Lee Chee Chan; Person In Charge of Malaysian Children's Hospice Penang (MCHP) Dato' Dr Hussain Imam; President of MCHP Dr Teoh Yen Lin, marking the beginning of a new chapter in our journey to provide compassionate, holistic and dignified care for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
✨ Highlights of the day included:
• The unveiling of the commemorative plaque, symbolising the opening of a place filled with hope and compassion.
• Our honoured guests joining together in a special plaque-signing ceremony.
• A joyful and meaningful drum circle, bringing everyone together in celebration. 🥁
• A deeply touching sharing by Pn Nur Aliah, a patient's mother, reminding us of the real lives, hopes and challenges behind the work we do.
• A beautiful singing performance by Jacob Hii & Alina Khoo, filling the occasion with warmth, unity and hope. 🎶
Our event ended with a public talk by Dr Lee Chee Chan titled : Beyond The Hospital : How Children Hospice And Community Can Transform The Lives Of Seriously Ill Children.
Total turnup was around 50 people. We are deeply grateful to all our guests, supporters, volunteers, healthcare professionals, families and friends who have walked alongside us and made this dream possible.
