ASEAN Youth Volunteer Programme, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia

The ASEAN Youth Volunteer Programme (AYVP) is a youth community leadership programme that mobilises young volunteers to work with communities in addressing their social, cultural, economic and environmental challenges, while forging a sense of ASEAN identity. AID, ASEAN Secretariat, and Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports. AYVP implements annual volunteer programmes with multi-stakeholders in the following thematic areas: The Environment and Climate Change, Protecting ASEAN’s Heritage, Disaster Risk Reduction and Preparedness, Education Development, Rural Development and Poverty Eradication, Social Entrepreneurship, Youth-friendly Health Services, and Sports and Recreation. After every programme, AYVP are expected to create the multiplier effect through implementing community-based projects across the region. In 2013, AYVP launched its first Inaugural Programme with 97 ASEAN Youth Eco Leaders from all over the region. This was followed by the development of 48 ASEAN Youth Heritage Leaders in 2014. AYVP alumni are currently working on their own community projects with their respective communities. AYVP will set foot in 2015 in Cambodia, 2016 in the Philippines, and 2017 in Myanmar.
