Dear contributors,

Thanks to your efforts, we have commenced phase 1 of our supply donation to the Penang medical teams last December 21.

Phase 2 shall commence in January and will focus more on supplying much-needed N95 masks above all else.

This December, in the spirit of Christmas, POWIIS’s Leo Club has decided to give back to our community and help raise money for two very worthy causes - Penang General Hospital and St. Nicholas’ Home. 100% of the proceeds will go on to help provide PPE for the medical staff working at Penang General Hospital, and also into keeping St. Nicholas’ Home alive, keeping a safe space for the blind and visually impaired in our Penang community. We believe in the importance of spreading a positive impact in our community, and especially during these difficult times, our help is crucial in supporting those in need.

Let us support our medical heroes and the blind community of Penang. Every dollar helps in our fight to build back better!

Even though it will be a few weeks more before our anticipated Scare to Care socially-distanced Halloween fancy dress celebration (now themed The Night(mare) Before Christmas), the important outcome is our collective effort with one heart to help our friends in the frontlines.

Here is a message from Dr. Chew, an MO at Penang General Hospital, for our POWIIS community.

Support in both cash and protective equipment from the wider LEO community in Penang to support our initiative are welcome. We shall match our collection with the commensurate amount of protective equipment. Thank you, our medical heroes, for keeping us safe!

PRESENTING...OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR 2020/21!
The cordon sanitaire due to the coronavirus pandemic has not restricted the LEO Club of POWIIS from conducting a selection process for its new Board of Directors. After an initial lull as we adjusted to online learning, we have bounced back with club meetings culminating in a series of online interviews recently. Following an extensive selection process, the following LEO's have been appointed our new Directors for the 2020/21 fiscal year:
1. President- Ao Tahara
2. Vice President - Aditya Kumar
3. Secretary - Dave Baladeva Dasa
4. Treasurer - Mohd. Faris Imandika
Congratulations to all appointees and we look forward to seeing them initiating projects that address the needs of our local community, especially in these challenging times.
