*MALAYSIAN NGOS UNITE FOR GAZA’S FUTURE POST-CEASEFIRE*
Kuala Lumpur, January 22, 2025 – A coalition of Malaysian NGOs, led by Pertubuhan IKRAM Malaysia and endorsed by 30 organizations, gathered today to address Gaza’s future following the HAMAS-Israel ceasefire.
The coalition welcomed the ceasefire as a crucial step toward peace but stressed the urgent need for reconstruction in Gaza after 465 days of devastation. Rebuilding essential infrastructure, healthcare, education, and utilities was highlighted as a priority, with calls for greater efforts from all sectors, including the Malaysian government.
Speakers demanded accountability for the loss of over 46,000 lives, urging international legal action and an end to arms supplies to Israel. They also emphasized the importance of unified humanitarian efforts and urged all Malaysians to contribute generously to Gaza’s recovery.
The coalition reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for a free and independent Palestine through boycotts, divestments, and sanctions, urging institutions to align with Malaysia’s stance on the Palestinian cause.
The message was clear: the ceasefire is just the beginning. Together, we can rebuild and ensure justice for Gaza.
