Celebrating New Beginnings! We had a fantastic time attending the Rotary Club of Bandar Sungai Petani Installation Night with our fellow Rotarians from Rotary Club of Bandar Sungai Petani and District 3300.

Congratulations to the dynamic leadership transition—a huge thank you to Outgoing President Sharavanan Shanmugam for a job well done, and a very warm welcome to Incoming President Cheng Yi Xin and the new Board of Directors!

IPP Rajaram handover the gavel and leadership of the club to Dr Edwin with the trust to continue fostering the value of friendship and integrity with new vision and energy.

Tonight mark another highlight the induction of Dr. Yew Chung Khian as our newest member, marking a significant addition to the club's growing roster of community-minded professionals.

Dr. Yew brings a distinguished background in healthcare to the club. He currently serves as a Consultant Rehabilitation Medicine Physician at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah in Alor Star, where he heads the department. His impressive academic credentials include an M.D. (NNSMA), a Master of Rehabilitation Medicine from Universiti Malaya (MRehabMed UM), and an MBA in Healthcare from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (MBA Healthcare UTM). He also holds certifications as a CMIA (NIOSHI), CDMP (NIDMAR), and is a member of the Academy of Medicine, Malaysia (AM MAL).

Dr. Yew's contributions to the field of rehabilitation medicine are widely recognized. He has been at the forefront of advancing rehabilitation practices in Malaysia, with his recent research on promoting the adoption of robotic exoskeletons in rehabilitation being published in the prestigious American Journal of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. His work continues to bridge the gap between cutting-edge technology and practical patient care.

The induction ceremony, held in the spirit of Rotary's motto of "Service Above Self," was a momentous occasion for the club. The Rotary Club of Alor Star is excited to have Dr. Yew on board. His expertise in healthcare and his demonstrated commitment to service are expected to greatly benefit the club's future initiatives, particularly in the areas of health and wellness. We look forward to his active participation and valuable contributions to the Rotary Club of Alor Star's mission of creating lasting change in our community and beyond.

We are happy to share that on 10 June 2026, the Rotary Club of Alor Star officially handed over two Cuckoo water filters to SJKC Lam Min, Kerpan.

Clean drinking water is essential for good health and concentration in school. With these filters, students and teachers now have easy access to safe & clean water throughout the school day.

Together, we serve to make a difference, one community at a time. 💧💙
