Military Naturalization/Deported Veterans Town Hall 11/9

We will be having an in-person & virtual town hall completely focused on this issue, and this issue only. Too many times this subject is on an agenda, yet ultimately becomes a footnote.

This is a WAKE UP, TAKE UP & STAY UP moment in our history!

It's a WAKE UP to America that ICE and CONGRESS have been deporting military service members for decades!

It's a TAKE UP positions time to protect the unifying principles of community, family, and faith that ALL military members take an oath to protect and preserve!

It's a STAY UP and STAY AT 'EM! This is not just a moment. This is NOT a ONE OFF!! WE MARCHIN' ON!!

To make a difference, we must alert and educate people to the necessity of focusing on this move to segregate the military without blatantly announcing it. If the value of your service is diminished because of your place of birth, then the value of the serviceperson next to me on active duty can't truly be seen as equitable.

For those that don't know...they will be introduced! For those that think they know...they will learn more! Those that think they are alone...will learn that groups like Common Defense, Veterans for Peace, About Face, 50501 Veterans, Excuse My Accent, Leave No One Behind Mural Project, Military Families Speak Out, Unified US Deported Veterans, Deported Veteran Support House, All Relations United, Black Deported Veterans of America, and others.

One of the questions that is prevalent at the different events that we present at is about legislation. We are supporters of the Strengthening Citizenship Services for Veterans Act, and hope that Sen. Duckworth & Rep. Vargas will reintroduce them. This bill in concert with Padilla/Takano's Veteran Service Recognition Act (and hopefully the HOPE Act), lay an effective pathway to addressing this naturalization problem and abolishing the negative connotation of being a Deported Veteran.

We look forward to your support! Please share with your congressional members, supporters, and partner organizations! (Even that...HELPS!)

The American Legion Post 742 Color Guard Team will proudly present the colors at the Los Angeles Chargers vs. Minnesota Vikings game tomorrow at 5 p.m. at SoFi Stadium. Leading the team will be Richard Cortez, with team members Manuel, Ronnie, and Andy standing tall in honor of our nation’s flag and those who have served.
