Huge shoutout to our friends at Wanderworld! 🌊💙
We want to celebrate this incredible partnership and the steady stream of wonderful volunteers they send our way. These guys aren’t just helping out; every single one of these students has been a massive asset to our organization while being a part of the team.

📍New Blog Alert!!!! by Natalia Gocman
https://www.ccrrp.mx/post/the-threats-to-coral-reefs-in-the-anthropocene

Headline: We’ve reached a tipping point. Is it too late for our reefs? 🪸

The latest "Global Tipping Points Report" is in, and the news is heavy: warm-water coral reefs have reached a critical threshold. As we approach $1.5\text{°C}$ of warming, we are looking at a potential 70%–90% loss of these vital ecosystems.

From the 5th mass bleaching event on the Great Barrier Reef to the staggering levels of pollution and disease facing the Mesoamerican Reef, the "Anthropocene" is leaving a mark that might feel irreversible.

But here’s why we aren't writing the obituary yet:
- Conservation works. Studies show that where protection is implemented, decline slows down.
- Community matters. Programs like the Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration are proving that direct action—from mangrove planting to water quality advocacy—builds resilience.
- Awareness is rising. The economic cost of inaction ($4.3$ trillion and counting) is finally catching the attention of policymakers.

We need systemic change and a hard pivot to net zero by 2050. It’s time to move past "business as usual."

¡Amarillo, velludito y lleno de vida! 🟡✨

Yellow, Fuzzy, and Full of Life! 🟡✨

Meet Madracis auretenra, also known as the Yellow Pencil Coral. While it isn't the most common hard coral here in Cozumel, it is one of the most resilient!

Last year, during a GPS mapping session, our intern Florine, spotted a broken colony. Instead of letting those fragments go to waste, we brought them into our restoration nursery and settled them into their new homes in our PVC cups.

The Update: Just 6 months later, we are seeing incredible growth! 🌱 These "fragile" fingers are proving they have a lot of fight in them.
