Agua de Rayo Agua de Rayo is a platform for ethnographic research and creation ,working in Mexico's Sierra Mazateca.

Founded in January 2016 in Mexico City, Agua de Rayo A.C is a platform for ethnographic creation and community development where anthropology, visual arts, and ecology converge. The civil association operates in the Mazatec municipality of San José Tenango located in the Sierra Madre Oriental in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca. Non-profit, it brings together anthropologists, teachers, biologi

sts, filmmakers, community leaders, and anyone else interested in the germination and growth of comprehensive community projects and ethnography. Agua de Rayo offers artistic, ecological, and cinema workshops and coordinates research focused on safeguarding and promoting Mazatec culture and language. It produces books, documentaries, short films, virtual platforms, community interventions, plays, botanical gardens, and other innovative projects in close collaboration with children, young people, and the elderly from communities throughout the region.
