As we approach the end of another year, I am thrilled to share some exciting developments that mark a significant milestone for Casa de Los Angeles.

A New Chapter in Ministry
Thanks to the unwavering support and prayers from our community, including you, we are delighted to announce the launch of the Lomas Altas Community Center at CDLA. This isn't just another update on construction—this is the beginning of active ministry, directly serving the families and children of Rosarito.

In partnership with Bob and April Pope and Manuel and Naara Martinez, we are embarking on a mission to offer much-needed services starting with English language classes and engaging community events. These initiatives aim to empower and educate, lifting spirits and paving the way for a brighter future for the entire community.

Join Us for the Grand Opening
We're inviting everyone to join us on December 7th for the grand opening fiesta of the Community Center. It will be a day of joy, community, and celebration—attributes that are at the very heart of what we do at CDLA. Please mark your calendars; we would love to celebrate this momentous occasion with you! If you'd like to come with me, shoot me an email: [email protected]

Looking Ahead
As we move forward, the real impact of our work begins now, and every step we take is a step towards transforming lives through the love and grace that guides us. We are excited to share more updates and stories from the ground as they unfold, showing just how much of a difference we are making together.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Your involvement and interest mean the world to us and to those we help. Stay tuned for more updates, and we hope to see you in December!

Open Trip to CDLA September 7th

We're excited to invite you to a special opportunity to serve and strengthen our community at Casa de Los Angeles (CDLA) in Rosarito, Mexico. On Saturday, September 7th, we are organizing a mission trip focused on a crucial task: waterproofing and insulating the new roadside wall that protects our growing facility.

Why is this important? This wall is vital for safeguarding the structural integrity of CDLA against the elements, ensuring that we can continue to provide a safe and welcoming space for those in need. Your help will have a lasting impact, preparing our home to withstand the rainy season and beyond.

Here’s what to expect:

Work alongside fellow supporters in a hands-on project crucial for CDLA.

Enjoy a special fellowship dinner provided by Pastor Aurelio's church, which will give us a wonderful opportunity to connect with the local community.

Optional overnight stay at the nearby Connections mission house, run by our board member Ron Struska, with a return home on Sunday morning after a time of prayer and reflection.

This trip is not only a chance to contribute physically but also to grow spiritually and connect with like-minded individuals who are passionate about making a difference.

Participation details:

Open to anyone aged 17 or older (youth under 17 must be accompanied by a guardian).

A nominal donation of $75 per overnight guest or $50 for day participants is requested to cover housing, food, gas, and vehicle insurance. Scholarships are available upon request.

There are a limited number of carpool spots available, or we will work out a caravan to the site.

We believe in the power of our community to fill gaps and build futures. Will you join us in this mission? Please click here to sign up or learn more about how you can help. Spots are limited, and we want to make sure you have a place on this transformative journey.

Just wanted to drop a quick note and share some awesome news from our latest adventure with the Canyon Springs Church team.

Big shoutout to Daniel Williams and the whole Surf & Serve crew for their incredible energy and hard work. They tackled a huge job at CDLA—removing a big portion of the massive ceiling forms on the first floor. It’s amazing to see how much they accomplished, and I’ve attached a photo so you can see the awesome progress they made.

After a busy morning, the team hit the beach for some well-deserved surf and downtime. It's exactly this mix of hard work and fun that makes these trips so special.

Thanks so much to everyone from Canyon Springs for your support and energy. It’s your spirit that helps push our project forward, and we’re so grateful for it.

We look forward to more such productive and enjoyable missions. For those inspired by this story, we welcome you to join us in future efforts—there’s always room for more hands and hearts in our CDLA family.

We're thrilled to share some exciting updates from Casa de Los Angeles that have been made possible by your incredible support and generosity.

Building Up and Breaking Through
Thanks to the dedication and contributions of our amazing donors, most of the second-floor walls at Casa de Los Angeles, including the crucial retaining wall along the street, are now standing strong. These walls are more than just concrete and mortar; they are the foundations of hope and safety for the children and families we serve in Rosarito.

A Visual Journey of Progress
Attached you’ll find photos showcasing the recent construction milestones. Each block laid and each wall raised mark significant progress toward completing our community center, where countless lives will be touched and transformed.

A Heartfelt Thank You
This progress is your impact in action! The end-of-year fundraising push to purchase blocks and build these walls was a resounding success, and it's all thanks to you. Your faith in our mission and your commitment to making a difference have carried us this far.

Let’s Keep the Momentum Going
While we celebrate these achievements, our journey together continues. There's more work to be done, and your ongoing support will help keep the momentum going. Let’s keep building not just walls, but futures.

Thank you once again for standing with us. Your partnership is not just building a structure; it's creating a haven of hope and opportunity.

I've got some exciting news to share with you today — our project is moving forward, and it's all thanks to your support. The concrete blocks we talked about last time? They're now being used to build the second story walls and the retaining wall of our center. This is a big deal for us, and I wanted to make sure you're in the loop.

Retaining Wall Progress: The retaining wall, which is crucial for preventing erosion and protecting our site, is now up to street level. It's amazing to see how these blocks are not just building walls but also bolstering the foundation for our future work here in Rosarito.

This progress is not just about the physical building; it's a symbol of what we can achieve when we come together. Each block laid is a step toward creating a place where children and families can find support, education, and a chance for a better future.

A Note of Thanks: Your help has been instrumental in getting us to this point. Whether it was a donation, spreading the word, or sending prayers our way, it all adds up, and we're so grateful for it.

What's Next: We're not stopping here. The walls are a big milestone, but there's more to do before we can open our doors. We're counting on your continued support to make this dream fully come true.

Thank you for being a part of this journey with us. It's amazing what we can do when we work together.

A Milestone Achieved: Blocks Delivered!

Thanks to your incredible generosity during our December fundraiser, we've not only met but surpassed our goals. The concrete blocks needed to build the second-floor walls at Casa de Los Angeles have been purchased and delivered. Yes, you read that right! We have the blocks, thanks to you!

Each one of these blocks represents a step towards a safer, more secure future for the children and families we serve. It's a tangible testament to what we can achieve together.

Constructing Hope and Stability

The urgency of building the south wall cannot be overstated. Not only will it form the foundation of our second story, but it will also act as a crucial retaining wall. This will prevent further erosion of the street, safeguarding the community and our facility against the forces of nature.

As a stark reminder of what's at stake, I've included a photo of a concrete power pole, just 30 feet east of CDLA, that fell over after the ground beneath it softened in the rain. Thankfully, no one was injured, and our power grid remained intact, but it underscores the pressing need for the retaining wall.

Looking Ahead

Your support has brought us this far, and we are just getting started. The blocks are here, and now it's time to build—build walls, build futures, build hope. We are more committed than ever to creating a safe haven for at-risk children and their families, and with you by our side, we know it's possible.

A Heartfelt Thank You

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your unwavering support, your generosity, and your belief in our mission. Together, we are making a profound difference in the lives of those we serve.

Stay tuned for updates as we turn these blocks into the foundations of a brighter future.

P.S. The journey continues, and every step we take is one we take together. Thank you for being a crucial part of this journey.

P.P.S. On a lighter note, after a hard day's work and site visits, we always make time for some of the best tacos you'll ever taste—right here in Rosarito. Check out the attached photo of the mouth-watering tacos we enjoyed last time. It's just a taste of the local flavor you'll experience when you visit CDLA. We'd love to share a meal (and some smiles) with you. Consider this an open invitation to come see the incredible work you're supporting firsthand... and to join us for tacos afterward!

I can't wait to share the story of our visit to Lomas Altas with you. We were invited by Pastor Aurelio and the kind folks at Comunidad Cristiana Lomas Altas for a day that felt like a big family reunion.

The church service was a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do. It was all about love, hope, and community—the very things that drive us at Casa de Los Angeles. After the service, we all gathered for some amazing pozole. It was more than just lunch; it felt like breaking bread with family.

During our meal, we naturally flowed into talking about life in Lomas Altas. The community shared their daily challenges with us, from caring for their children and tackling poverty to the struggle of getting into town with just one taxi van available each hour. It's clear there's a lot we can do together.

And here's the exciting part: Pastor Aurelio is all in on partnering with us. He's as excited as we are about joining forces to support the community and spread God's love through our actions.

This isn't just another project for us; it's a chance to truly make a difference, side by side with some amazing new friends. Your support has helped us get here, and there's so much more we can do together.

We're buzzing with ideas and can't wait to dive into this partnership. We'll keep you updated on all the incredible ways we're planning to serve the families and children of Lomas Altas. Your prayers, support, and passion mean the world to us and them.

P.S. We believe in the power of prayer and action. If you feel moved to support our initiatives in Lomas Altas, please visit our website here - whether it's donating, volunteering, or spreading the word, together, we can make a world of difference.

The Threat of Erosion: A Critical Situation

We are at a crucial juncture in our mission to protect and serve the children and families of Rosarito. The erosion caused by the adjacent road poses a significant threat to our property, particularly to our South wall. As you can see in the attached photo, the concrete footings of a couple of our fence posts are alarmingly exposed, underscoring the urgency of completing the South wall construction to prevent further erosion and ensure safety.

A Match Like No Other

We have incredible news! A generous donor has stepped forward with a $7,000 matching gift challenge. This means every dollar you donate towards our 'Buy a Block' campaign will be matched, doubling your impact until we reach our goal.

You can get your gift doubled at our website, casadela.org
