Surreal Sailing

Surreal Sailing Skipper Will and his sailing friends enjoy exciting sailing in the ocean off of Rincon de Guayabitos, Mexico. A few notes for anyone interested in joining us.

ANNE(my wife Anita) AND I, Will Stelzer(Skipper Will), HAVE BEEN GOING TO A SMALL MEXICIAN VILLAGE, Rincon de Guayabitos ABOUT AN HOUR DRIVE NORTH OF PUERTO VALHARTA FOR THE PAST 8 YEARS. WE NOW HAVE A 21FT HOBIE CAT SAILBOAT, MOUNTIAN BIKES, BEACH CHAIRS, UMBRELLAS AND MANY MEXICIAN CONTACTS TO HELP SOLVE VACATION PROBLEMS. WE GO OUT ON SAILING TRIPS, YOGA, PALADIES, DANCING, MARKET DAY, HOT SPRI

NGS, JUNGLE TOURS AND REGULAR POTLUCK SUPPERS. This year we plan to drive down the first week of November so we will have a 4 person 4WD Chevy Tracker for daily launching of the Hobie 21, trips to hot spring trips as well as trips to market and Walmart/Mega store runs into PV. It is becoming very difficult to find rooms in the Dec 20 to Feb 15 time frame for one or two weeks only. It is possible before late fall to still find rooms, but be forewarned that by November this time period is usually fully booked. Most bungalows have wifi although it is usually somewhat slow. TELUS and most other carriers have a text or text and talk packages for Mexico. We find that leaving cell phones on “AIRPLANE mode” works great. No charges yet get texts and emails via wifi to your cell phone. We now take “DUKORAL” aprox 2 weeks before we leave for Mexico to prevent diarrhea. And we have never been seriously ill since. And “TWINRIX” (three shots, for protection from Hep A & B)
If you travel north of PV to where we vacation you will also not be able to give blood for one year. Only drink bottled water, brush teeth with bottled water and don't eat fresh oysters as many parts of Mexico NOW have parasites. Check if Zica virus is active in this area if you are or plan to get pregnent. Please note: Many of us have developed congestive breathing medical conditions (Rincon Cough) while in Guayabitos. We suspect it is from a combination of DUST, HUMIDITY and COLDS. The good news is that it is easily and cheaply treated in Guayabitos but can leave you in bed for a few days with a fever and fits of coughing. I have also included some pictures of our Surreal Sailing location on the beach in front of Villanueva RV Park in Rincon. We currently have my pimped out Hobie 21 sailboat to use for sailing trips. We will use our Chev tracker for easier and safer launching of the Hobie 21 this year. We also have access to a 13 passenger van to take us on tours(Jose @ 327-103-7748 or [email protected]). We have a few mountain bikes for our friends to use. We have made arrangements with Jose to take out the center bench seat in the Van then load up several mountain bikes, drive to one of the neighboring villages where we could then walk and bike around for a day of sightseeing. TOURS: Our Mexican friend Koral organizes tours out of the restaurant ``Àlicias`` down by Bungalows Mi Cassa. She speaks excelent english and can arrange tours for everything from Whale watching and fishing to ruins and zip line. Most of Canadians will be found here as her prices, service and smile are great. ACTIVITIES: go to this Guayabitos tourism website for a list of other activities

Took manager Chris out sailing, great friendly english speaking person, guests say great things about this complex. http://www.paraisodelpescador.com/index-eng.php

10) Various other condo and Hotel complexes Many Kelowna residents own condo's in Rincon De Guayabitos and Los Ayala and can be found for rent via online or casta net clasifieds. Air fare is cheap out of Vancouver, Calgary or Seattle,WA but you can get good prices out of Kelowna approx. 2-3 wks before you plan to depart, but risk sometimes there being no seats left!! We have also found that Tuesday or Wednesday dates are less desired and so airlines always have extra seats for those days. i.e seats are cheaper!! webs sites: http://www.expedia.ca/Flights
We have found that the best airfare value is to get an "Alaska Airlines" MasterCard that offers the annual companion flight. Within a few weeks of getting this card and every year afterward the card holder is eligible to take a companion along for $99us plus about $130us taxes. A typical round trip ticket to PV is around $800us (Jan - Feb). So this card saves you around $570 a year on airfare plus STILL GIVES YOU additional air miles for additional flights from your credit card purchases.
