Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza, AC (RISE) At any one time there may be as many 50 children residing under the loving care of our dedicated staff.

Since we have grown, there has been a need for additional staff like nannies, cooks, tutors and a driver who takes the children to the various schools since they are of different ages. We count with the wonderful people who volunteer their time and effort to help organize donations, perform handy man tasks, assist in the kitchen, maintain the garden and perform an activity to help keep them mentally stimulated and happy - art, dance, yoga, etc. Please write to [email protected] for more info. Our children are learning sign language! 🤘🧡

Our children and staff have been learning sign language, communicating with their hands in a whole new way. This has been especially meaningful as we have welcomed children who do not speak. Watching everyone connect through these sign language classes and learning has been absolutely incredible!

At RISE, we focus on helping our children develop skills that support their independence and confidence.

• Learning to button and organize their clothes
• Folding and caring for their belongings
• Preparing simple meals and snacks

These activities may seem small, but they help strengthen coordination, responsibility, and practical skills they will use throughout life.

👨‍🍳 Our RISE Master Chefs

As part of our in-house summer program, our children recently took over the kitchen for a fun cold cooking activity!

They prepared food to share with each other and their caregivers while learning to follow instructions, work as a team, and build confidence by trying something new.

Activities like these help our children develop practical life skills, build confidence, and make the most of their summer break.

👨‍🍳 Nuestros MasterChef de RISE

¡Como parte de nuestro programa de verano en casa, nuestros niños se convirtieron en los MasterChef de RISE con una divertida actividad de cocina fría!

Prepararon alimentos para compartir entre ellos y con sus cuidadoras mientras aprendían a seguir instrucciones, trabajar en equipo y ganar confianza al probar algo nuevo.

Building Connections That Change Lives 🧡

One of the greatest gifts our supporters can give RISE isn’t always a donation, sometimes it’s an introduction.

A heartfelt thank you to Steve Anderson, longtime RISE supporter and founder of The Renue Medical Centre, for bringing a generous donation of food and essential supplies to our home.

Through Steve, we had the opportunity to welcome Dr. Jonathan Lakey, internationally recognized for his work advancing diabetes treatment, and Brad Robinson, a biotech pioneer whose innovations have helped shape the medical device industry.

After visiting RISE and meeting our children, both were deeply moved by our mission and the impact being created here.

RISE Swimming Lessons 🏊‍♀️

Four of our children recently enjoyed swimming lessons, learning new water skills and building confidence in the water.

These lessons were earned through positive school performance and good behavior, celebrating the children’s hard work and dedication.

A big thank you to our volunteer swim instructor, Javier Vela, for sharing his time and knowledge with our kids. 💙

☀️ Summer is off to an amazing start at RISE!

For the very first time, we’re hosting our own in-house RISE Exploradores Summer Camp, and the children have had a fantastic first week!

From July 1 to August 7, they’re enjoying four themed weeks filled with creativity, science, nature, sports, movement, culture, and community. Each day includes activities like art, science experiments, yoga, swimming, dance, music, cooking, and more.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our community supporters who helped make this incredible summer possible for our children. We can’t wait to share more moments from RISE Exploradores! 🧡

Por primera vez, estamos realizando nuestro propio campamento de verano RISE Exploradores, ¡y los niños han tenido una fantástica primera semana!

Del 1 de julio al 7 de agosto disfrutarán de cuatro semanas temáticas llenas de creatividad, ciencia, naturaleza, deporte, movimiento, cultura y comunidad. Cada día participan en actividades como arte, experimentos de ciencia, yoga, natación, baile, música, cocina y mucho más.
