Misión:
Promover el bienestar de la comunidad LGBTQ Latina/o en el Condado De Pierce a través de eventos sociales, información y educación. Vision:
El “Grupo” creara un lugar en donde los Latina/os de nuestra comunidad puedan venir a compartir, discutir ideas y enriquecer sus vidas. El “Grupo” en el Condado De Pierce tiene abiertas las
puertas para nuestra gente, en nuestro idioma y con nuestras culturas. Group Description:
El Grupo “El Batallón Unido” is a weekly meeting group for Latina/o le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, q***r, questioning, and allies (LGBTQA) that Spanish is their predominate language that live Pierce County. The group’s meetings, events, activities, marketing materials and workshops will all be in Spanish, but for those Latino/a LGBTQA individuals who do not speak Spanish there will be some support in translating. El Grupo “El Batallón Unido” will have programming that will create opportunities to establish social networks, and get informed about many issues affecting Latino/a LGBTQA. The meetings, activities, and programming will help enrich the lives of groups participates. The group will invite local persons or organizations that have expertise on issues that affect Latino/a LGBTQA to bring their expertise to the group. The issues we would like to address are:
• Education
• HIV/AIDS and other STD’s
• Mental Health
• Substance Abuse
• Housing
• General Health
• Financial
• Legal
• Family
• And any topic the group would like to address
The group will not provide direct support to those individuals needing assistance. The group will collaborate with local organizations to create a referral base that will help assist those needing assistance.
