Let’s talk about donations with love and honesty. 💛
First, we want to say thank you. Vallarta Cares exists because of the generosity of our community. Every meal served, every family supported, every person given a moment of dignity happens because people choose to give.
We survive entirely through donations — both monetary and in-kind — and we are deeply grateful for every person who thinks of us when they have something to share.
At the same time, we need to be honest about a growing challenge.
Because of limited funding, staffing, and transportation capacity, we are no longer able to pick up donations. We kindly ask that all donations be brought directly to us.
We also ask our community to please donate with intention.
Before donating items, please ask yourself:
Would I use this?
Is it clean?
Is it in good condition?
Is it broken, stained, damaged, or missing parts?
Does it help someone feel cared for and respected?
Our mission is not only to provide food, clothing, hygiene, and support, it is to help restore dignity to people facing difficult circumstances. Vallarta Cares works with individuals and families experiencing poverty, food insecurity, health challenges, homelessness, and crisis situations.
Unfortunately, we often receive items that are dirty, broken, heavily stained, unusable, or unsafe. Some items require hours of sorting, cleaning, and disposal — time and resources that could otherwise go directly toward helping the people we serve.
We say this with love: we cannot serve our community with items that should be thrown away.
Your donations should be a gift of dignity, not a burden for our small team.
If you have clean clothing, shoes, linens, hygiene items, household goods, or other useful items in good condition, we welcome them with gratitude. These donations truly make a difference in the lives of the people we support through our food, health, disaster relief, education, and dignity programs.
