Hunger does not wait.

For the past 24 weeks, Amigos has made 62 deliveries of food staples to families in need in Puerto Vallarta, including at the dump and in the Colonia Magisterio community.

By helping families with basic food supplies, we can ease some of their daily struggles and give children a better chance at education and a brighter future.

This National Volunteer Week, we want to recognize the incredible volunteers of Amigos de Magisterio.

Behind every food distribution, there is a team of dedicated people making it happen. Our volunteers spend countless hours shopping for food in bulk, organizing supplies, dividing quantities, stocking the warehouse, and preparing everything for distribution to families in need.

Because of their dedication and generosity, every donation goes directly toward purchasing food for families in need. There are no paid staff and no administrative salaries ; every dollar helps put food on the table!

Their hard work and commitment ensure that no one is left behind. They may work behind the scenes, but their impact is felt throughout the entire community.

Volunteering is more than giving time, it is giving hope, dignity, and support.

Today, we carried out our weekly delivery to families in need. 💛

In addition to food, we were also able to provide clothing to those who need it most. Every item shared brings comfort, dignity, and hope.

Aujourd’hui, nous avons fait notre livraison hebdomadaire auprès de familles dans le besoin. 💛

En plus de la nourriture, nous avons aussi pu offrir des vêtements à ceux qui en ont le plus besoin. Chaque geste apporte du réconfort, de la dignité et de l’espoir.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT
We alleviate hunger and promote dignity by providing food to those in need; especially those working and residing in the Colonia Magisterio, suburb of Puerto Vallarta.

Every week from November to April, we deliver staples to approximately 250 people that work in the dump and live in the poverty striken bario of Magisterio.

Amigos del Magisterio provides food for the poorest of the poor in Puerto Vallarta and area. We are a group of volunteers that raise funds to buy and deliver staples such as rice, beans, lentils, cooking oil, oatmeal, pasta and soya. We deliver food on a weekly basis to the workers who earn their living scavenging through the garbage at the dump. Prior to our involvement, their children had to help and couldn't attend school. Because of our work, there are no longer any children at the dump. We have just celebrated 20 years of operations. We see the results. The children, rather than work in the dump, are now graduating high school and breaking the vicious cycle of poverty.
