For some kids, turning 18 is a milestone filled with excitement for what’s ahead.
For others, it is filled with anxiety because they need to leave the orphanage they’ve called home—and suddenly are expected to navigate adulthood alone.
But for this young man, turning 18 meant something different.
It meant being picked up from DIF, taken out to celebrate his birthday, and then welcomed into the Mentor Home—a place where he has community, support, and people cheering him on as he builds his future.
Turning 18 shouldn’t mean being abandoned. It should mean having someone beside you as you take your next step.
That’s what the Mentor Home is here for: to make sure young adults aging out of care don’t have to launch into adulthood alone. ❤️

We’re still reflecting on how meaningful the Grand Opening of Mentor Home was last month—and it’s because of you.

Just three years ago, this was a blank piece of land. Today, it’s home to the first cohort of young adults who have aged out of orphanages—each one stepping into a new chapter filled with stability, growth, and hope.

Because of your support, we’re now welcoming our second and third cohorts, and the home will be full by the end of fall.

You’ve helped create more than a house—you’ve helped build a place where young adults are reminded every day that their lives have purpose, and that God has a plan for their future.

Rancho la Hermosa Orphanage is back to school after an amazing Easter break. We had the opportunity to take cooking classes, go to the beach, and visit a park in Tijuana to spend quality time together. We closed out the month with a spring festival at the schools where our children were able to participate.

Casa de Mentoria (Mentor Home) has been open one month and we just launched a new 15 week program "Unfiltered." Once a week we will host a meeting with the teens and local mentors who will talk about how Jesus impacts their daily lives and their working professions. This is part of a core pillar to our program: Spiritual Development.

We live in a generation where everything is filtered: social media, societal expectations, fears, insecurities, and masks that hide who we truly are. Many young people have learned to present an edited version of their lives, trying to fit in, be accepted, or meet standards that don't always reflect their true essence.

This new program “Unfiltered” was created as an authentic and transformative space where young people can peel back those layers and rediscover their real identity.

At Rancho la Hermosa Orphanage, two higher schoolers were awarded medals for academic performance! Several other of the secondary school students performed very well and were selected for competitions in March. So proud of these kids.
