Pursue Bamboo 🎍🎋🐼

At Vision of the Heart we build with sustainable and renewable resources, that this magical land supplies us with. We are able to source wood, bamboo & adobe from the 108ha land, which we use to build or renovate Cabañas and other structures.
The 3 Bamboo Types we have are:

🎋 Guadua
🎋 Oldhamii
🎋 Bulgari

These three distinct types of bamboo are known for their unique characteristics and uses.

Guadua bamboo, native to Latin America, is one of the largest and strongest bamboo species in the world, with some varieties reaching up to 20 - 30 meters. Guadua can grow at a rate of 1 - 1.5 meters per year.
It is highly valued for its quick growth rate and durability, making it a popular choice for construction projects.
Guadua, is what we use to build our Cabañas & furniture. It is also the Bamboo type, we sell the most of. Yes, we're in the Bamboo business too!

Next up is the Oldhamii bamboo, it is native to East Asia and is known for its slender and elegant appearance. It can grow up to 12 - 15 meters tall, with a growth rate of 0.5-1 meter per year.
It is often used in landscaping and gardening for its ornamental qualities. Oldhamii bamboo is not as commonly used for construction purposes due to its smaller size and lesser strength compared to Guadua bamboo. We use it to build lamps, furniture, window frames & fences.

Last but not least the Bulgari bamboo. It is native to India and a unique species known for its striking yellow and green striped stems. It can reach a max height of 6-8 meters and can grow at a rate of 1 - 1.5 meters per year.
This bamboo is often used in handicrafts, making decorative items like baskets, mats, and musical instruments. Bulgari bamboo is prized for its aesthetic appeal and versatility in artisanal creations. We don't use the Bulgari at the moment but we appreciate it's immense beauty and are planning to start projects with it soon.

Each type of bamboo has its own distinct qualities that make it special and suitable for different purposes.

🎺 CACAO
of the Heart we produce our own Cacao ~

✨ Some of our Cacao trees are a 100 years old

✨ Harvesting, Cleaning & Fermenting ~
The Cacao fruits are hand-picked, the seeds/beans are carefully extracted and cleaned from fruit flesh. Now the wet beans are fermented up to 72 hours.

✨ Drying ~
After fermentation the moisture in the beans needs to be reduced from 55% to 7,5%.
The sun supports this process.

✨Roasting ~
After drying the cacao beans are carefully roasted until the colour changes to a darker shade.

✨Winnowing ~
Winnowing, cracking, fanning and hulling are some of the terms and phrases which describe the separation of the shell (hull) and meat of the beans (nib).

✨ Grinding ~
After cooling down and removing the shell the beans are grinded with a special grinding machine until a paste is formed.

✨ Drying & Packing ~
The paste is then dried and placed into its packaging.

✨When preparing our Vision of the Heart Ceremonial Cacao ~
Because the antioxidants and flavonoids are an important aspect of the health benefits of cacao, we recommend to keep the heat of the liquid you make the cacao in, under 40 degrees Celsius. Even lightly heating cacao will destroy a third of the antioxidants and flavonoids.
You may want to spice and sweeten your cacao. We like to use chili, cardamon, cloves or ginger. For sweetening, we usually use the bananas from this land.

✨ Our Vision of the Heart Cacao comes in 1 kilo (400 MXN) and 1/2 kilo (200 MXN) packaging.
