One truth has followed me everywhere I’ve traveled: people are afraid of birth.
Across cultures, birth is often hidden, rushed, medicalized, or treated as something to endure rather than something to be held with care. Conversations about menstruation, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum and menopause are fragmented or silenced entirely.
And yet, it’s 2026! We are more connected than ever. We have access to shared knowledge, lived stories, and global dialogue. I believe deeply that maternal health is one of the most pressing social justice issues of our time, and that birthworkers sit at a critical intersection of that reality.
So Why Doulas? Why This Work?
We can’t redesign every hospital overnight. We can’t rewrite every medical protocol or undo generations of fear around birth.
But we can add the doula.
Doula work is ancient, relational, and deeply human. In today’s world, that makes it quietly radical. It’s accessible. It’s adaptable. It can exist in hospitals, homes, clinics, and communities across the globe.
Doulas change birth not by controlling it, but by regulating nervous systems, protecting dignity, and reminding everyone in the room that this is a human experience, not a procedure.
This is why we created the Wombs of the World Full Spectrum Doula Training.
After years of travel, clinical exposure, and witnessing both harm and healing inside birth systems, I knew there needed to be a training that went beyond technique. One that prepared people to think critically, work ethically, and sustain themselves inside real-world complexity.
The Full Spectrum Doula Training is designed for people who feel called to birthwork but want to do it with integrity, cultural humility, and systems awareness. It explores physiology, trauma-informed care, consent and boundaries, postpartum support, and the realities of practicing across different settings and cultures.
If you’re feeling the pull toward birthwork and wondering how to begin in a way that feels grounded and responsible, this is often where people start.
Comment Doula and we will send you info about the training.
