Over the past few weeks, we had the pleasure of delivering two TOEFL ITP Teacher Workshops with educators from across Mexico: on June 18 in Mexico City, with university instructors from Altamira, Tamaulipas, and Durango, and on June 26 in Cuernavaca, with teachers working with children, teenagers, and adults.

Designed by and implemented by an officially trained professional at the Institute of International Education (Institute Of International Education (IIE)), LAC, these hands-on workshops connected TOEFL ITP assessment with classroom practice and explored how assessment data can inform teaching and curriculum decisions.

Across the sessions, key conversations emerged around curriculum alignment, learning objectives, proficiency expectations, and the challenge of communicating the value of English when it is not always given the place it deserves within educational systems.

Las 22 nuevas personas becarias de Odyssey cursarán estudios en universidades de diversos países, entre ellos Bangladesh, Chad, Kenia, México y Tailandia, a partir del ciclo académico 2026-2027.

Creada para apoyar a estudiantes altamente motivados que han sido desplazados de sus hogares en distintas partes del mundo, la Beca Odyssey cubre colegiaturas, alojamiento y gastos de manutención mientras las personas beneficiarias obtienen títulos de licenciatura y posgrado en universidades de sus países de asilo.

Este año se cumplen cinco años desde la creación del programa. Queremos expresar nuestro agradecimiento a las personas integrantes del Comité de Selección y a quienes, mediante sus donativos, han contribuido a ampliar y sostener el apoyo a este programa visionario.

The 22 new Odyssey Scholars will study at universities across several countries, including Bangladesh, Chad, Kenya, Mexico, and Thailand, starting in the 2026-27 academic year.

Created to assist highly motivated students uprooted by displacement around the globe, the Odyssey Scholarship covers tuition, housing, and living expenses as recipients earn their undergraduate and graduate degrees at universities in their country of asylum.

This year marks five years since the program’s founding. We'd like to thank our Selection Committee members and donors who've scaled up and sustained support for this visionary program.

We delivered our TOEFL ITP Teacher Workshop on April 17, this time with a group of coordinators from the Foreign and Native Languages (LEyM) department, English language facilitators, and other academic leaders from Tecnológico Nacional de México (TecNM) campuses in Boca del Río, Cuautitlán Izcalli, Guanajuato, Huixquilucan, La Chontalpa, La Piedad, Mexico City, Puebla, Saltillo, San Martín Texmelucan, Tlatlauquitepec, and Zongolica.

The range of teaching contexts represented made the exchange especially rich, with participants bringing diverse perspectives into the conversation.

This 8-hour, hands-on workshop—designed by and implemented by an officially trained professional at the Institute of International Education (IIE), LAC—focused on connecting ITP assessment with everyday classroom practice through strategies grounded in linguistic principles. Participants explored test design, reflected on how assessed skills relate to academic success, and exchanged ideas to better support their students.

We continued delivering our TOEFL ITP Teacher Workshop on April 10 with educators from Educuc Lenguas, Escuela Nacional de Lenguas, Lingüística y Traducción - Enallt UNAM, Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales - UNAM, and Centro De Estudios Navales En Ciencias De La Salud.

This 8-hour, hands-on workshop—designed by and implemented by an officially trained professional at the Institute of International Education (IIE), LAC—focused on connecting TOEFL ITP assessment with everyday classroom practice. Participants explored test design, reflected on how assessed skills relate to academic success, and exchanged practical strategies to better support their students.

We kicked off our first TOEFL ITP workshop of the year, welcoming a group of committed English teachers from Tlaxcala, Mexico City, and Estado de México.

This workshop follows an 8-hour, hands-on format, designed by and implemented by an officially trained professional at the Institute of International Education (IIE), LAC. It focuses on practical, classroom-ready strategies grounded in linguistic principles to better support students preparing for the TOEFL ITP—connecting assessment with everyday instructional practice.

At Toefl-iie Mexico, we remain committed to creating spaces where educators can exchange ideas, reflect on their practice, and access tools that directly benefit their students.
