Lizeth, joven par en Colombia.

Llegó a Eleva en un momento difícil de su vida. Allí aprendió sobre gestión emocional, a hablar de lo que sentía y a apropiarse de quién es, “sin ese miedo a que me juzguen, sin ese miedo a hablar abiertamente quién soy yo”.

Hoy acompaña a otros jóvenes desde el territorio, convencida de que “es un trabajo de joven para joven” y de que la salud mental es un tema del que sí hay que hablar.

ELEVA no solo le dio herramientas.
Le dio un propósito. 💙
Lizeth, a youth peer in Colombia.

She came to Eleva during a difficult time in her life. There she learned about emotional management, to talk about what she felt, and to own who she is, "without that fear of being judged, without that fear of openly talking about who I am."

Today she supports other youth from the region, convinced that "it's youth-to-youth work" and that mental health is a topic we must talk about.

Eleve didn't just give her tools. It gave her purpose 💙

En el marco del próximo 80.º aniversario de YMCA Venezuela, tuvimos un conversatorio regional sobre resiliencia comunitaria — y fue un encuentro que nos llenó de energía. Por primera vez, todos los centros del país — Caracas, Maracaibo, Margarita y Anaco — alzaron la voz juntos, compartiendo esa esencia de servicio que los caracteriza. Escuchar a estos líderes fue un recordatorio poderoso de lo que la YMCA significa para sus comunidades: un espacio seguro, de acompañamiento y esperanza. Fue un espacio donde la resiliencia venezolana tuvo la oportunidad de compartir con otras YMCA de la región. 👏🇻🇪
In the context of the upcoming 80th anniversary of YMCA Venezuela, we held a regional conversation on community resilience — and it was an encounter that truly energized us.
For the first time, all the country’s centers — Caracas, Maracaibo, Margarita, and Anaco — came together to raise their voices, sharing the spirit of service that defines them.
Listening to these leaders was a powerful reminder of what YMCA represents for their communities: a safe space for support and hope. It was also a meaningful opportunity for Venezuelan resilience to connect and share with other YMCAs across the region. 👏🇻🇪

The YMCA, as an organization committed to youth empowerment, human dignity, and social transformation, expresses its solidarity and support for the communities of Venezuela amid the country's current complex situation.

Recent events have, in various ways, deepened the urgent needs of children, youth, and individuals, increasing the challenges they face daily.

For over 80 years, the YMCA of Venezuela has kept its doors open, demonstrating deep roots, resilience, commitment, and love for others. It has provided safe, dignified spaces where communities can access quality education, sports and recreation, tools for holistic development, and job skills training.

The Latin American and Caribbean Alliance of YMCAs reaffirms its commitment to supporting and strengthening the work of the YMCAs of Venezuela, ensuring they can continue to have an impact in the communities they serve. Sustained by our faith and guided by the call to love, peace, and justice, we trust they will remain beacons of hope and transformation, contributing to a more just, equitable, inclusive, and sustainable region.

En Bogotá, Laura —estudiante, joven par y líder en su comunidad, descubrió algo poderoso: que cuidar la salud mental también es una forma de transformar vidas. 💛✨

A través del programa Eleva, Laura no solo fortaleció su propio bienestar; también encontró herramientas para acompañar a otras personas jóvenes a reconocer sus emociones, hablar de sus experiencias y convertirse en agentes de cambio en sus comunidades.

Lo que comenzó como un espacio para aprender, se convirtió en un movimiento:
Juventudes que antes no sabían qué era la salud mental, hoy hablan de ella con claridad, comparten sus historias y lideran procesos que generan bienestar colectivo.

Porque cuando una persona se fortalece, toda una comunidad avanza.
Y cuando una juventud se organiza, nace un legado de impacto que trasciende.

Through the Eleva program, Laura not only strengthened her own well-being but also developed tools to support other young people in recognizing their emotions, discussing their experiences, and becoming agents of change in their communities.

What began as a space to learn became a movement: Young people who previously didn’t know what mental health was now speak about it with clarity, share their stories, and lead processes that generate collective well-being.

When one person is strengthened, an entire community advances. And when young people organize, a legacy of impact is born that transcends.
