To survive, is, at its core, a continual act of repairing — of holding together what threatens to fall apart, of creating continuity in moments of rupture. To repair is a form of resistance — a refusal to discard, a choice to value what has been broken, a belief that restoration is still possible, even if perfection is not. These acts are not linear. They don’t unfold on script. Sometimes they are visible — a reconstruction, a reconfiguration, a purposeful withholding.
Other times, they are quiet, persistent — carried on in ritual, in care, in memory. Sidd Joag

The making of LA TRENZA in the middle of the Rio Grande, then traveled to Derry, Northern Ireland and we braided together again, a community was born. We keep transforming. Adriana Alvarez and Michael Marinez

What an evening at with the students sharing their stories some of first generation and braiding the objects that carry their memories into LA TRENZA. The piece keeps transforming and re signifying because of your stories. Thank you LA CASA at Dartmouth and especially GRACIAS to all the students who showed up. It was a powerful evening of sharing and braiding close to the Murals of Jose Clemente Orozco “The American Civilization”!

Grateful to be in Sicily, Italy as part of the Radical She residency at Farm Cultural Park, continuing the development of What Remains — an ongoing project exploring migration, memory, and the traces people leave behind.

Working in Sicily, a place deeply connected to migration across the Mediterranean, creates a powerful mirror to the realities of the Mexico–U.S. border that have shaped this work for many years.

Through objects, landscapes, and stories, the project reflects on what survives displacement and what continues to travel with us across borders.

Thank you to Farm Cultural Park for inviting us and for creating space for these conversations and exchanges.
