David Coxwell, Artistic Director

A founding member of the Berkeley Repertory Theatre and its program, Shakespeare for Students. In New York he became active in the beginning of the Off-Off Broadway movement, helping to produce new works in the basement of various churches. From New York David went to Kansas City to become an Associate Director with the Actors' Ensemble. It was there that he int

roduced to the United States the brilliant and provocative British playwright, Nick Darke and his play, THE DEAD MONKEY. From Kansas City David went on to become Artistic Director of the Overland Stage Co.where he produced works of Samuel Beckett and David Mamet. In becoming Artistic Director of the Pelican Theatre of La Paz, David has been able to realize a goal of establishing a theatre dedicated to producing the works of contemporary playwrights whose works are daring, exciting and unique.
