This is a Positive, Safe and Secure Home away from Home. Children from infancy to young adult whose parents have substance abuse issues (alcohol and drug), are abusive (physical, emotional and sometime sexual) and violent, incarcerated, deceased or otherwise deemed unfit or unsafe to care for their children. All children
are welcomed into this loving community family. Nueva Creacion has been shielding these precious souls from further trauma and abuse for over 19 years. We can care for a maximum of 24 children and generally run at or near full capacity year round. All the children receive a bed, three meals daily, medical and dental attention and an evaluation from a psychiatrist. There is an infirmary on site but they attend school offsite. Our kids greatly enjoy the spacious grounds and have fun making items for sale in the woodworking shop. Some of these items include pens, clocks, beautiful palm frond animals and picture frames which are sold at the local farmer's markets. They tend to the feeding and maintenance of the chickens and pigs and participate in the land care, maintenance, sowing and harvesting of the organic fruit and vegetable garden. Each of these onsite projects gives the children an opportunity to be exposed to many new life skills and trades as well as emphasizing the importance of sustainability, care and maintenance, and generalized basic business skills like sales, marketing, finances, surplus and waste management, renewability of resources and the important values of determination, patience and hard work for reward. We started this page to bring awareness and transparency for raising funds to assist the children and make their lives a little better. The Alberque is located on the south end of La Paz in Colonia Calafia, about 10 miles south of the City Center.
