Día de Mu***os, or Day of the Dead
November 2 in Mexico is the main observance of Día de Mu***os, or Day of the Dead. It was declared an official public holiday in the 1960's. Because of that, no matter where you go in Mexico, there will be celebrations.
Halloween celebrations in the USA have leaked into Mexico and some consider it a 3-day celebration:
Oct. 31 - Halloween (MAJOR costume day in Mexico)
Nov. 1 - All Saints Day, Día de los Angelitos, Day of the Little Angels, Night of the Dead, Noche de Mu***os
Nov. 2 - All Souls Day - Día de Mu***os, or Day of the Dead

Autumn
On Monday, Sept. 22, the autumnal equinox, which signals the start of fall in the Northern Hemisphere, finally brings an end to our long, hot summer on Monday at 2:19 p.m. EDT. This happens at a precise moment each September, typically on the 22nd or 23rd, when the sun is directly above the equator.

TODAY IS: International Women’s Day 2025:
The marches happening in Mexico on March 8
Hundreds of thousands of women are expected to flood streets across Mexico on Saturday for International Women’s Day, demanding gender equality and an end to violence against women.
In Mexico City, the 8M march, held annually on March 8, will begin at multiple points, including the Monument to the Revolution and the Fuente de la Diana Cazadora (Diana the Huntress Fountain).
Leaving at various times between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., the contingents — organized by various feminist collectives — are set to converge around 2 p.m., creating a sea of purple-and-green-clad protesters advancing toward the city’s Zócalo.
Last year’s march in Mexico City had more than 180,000 participants — double the 2023 total — according to Pablo Vázquez Camacho, the minister of public security for Mexico City.

Día de la Candelaria
Today, Sunday, February 2nd is Groundhog Day in the United States, but in Mexico, there is a completely different celebration on this date.
This is the religious holiday known as Día de la Candelaria (or Candlemas in English). Throughout Mexico on this day of the year, people dress up figures of the Christ Child in special outfits and take them to the church to be blessed, and they also get together with family and friends to eat tamales, as a continuation to the festivities of Three Kings’ Day on January 6.
This is mainly a religious and family celebration.

Major Mexican Holiday approaching!
Monday, February 3, 2025, Constitution Day is observed, with actual date of Feb. 5.
On February 3, 2025, Mexico will officially celebrate the anniversary of the Mexican Constitution, creating one of the first long holiday weekends of the year for citizens and students alike. This date marks the first Monday of February, which has been designated as the public holiday to honor the Constitution of 1917, originally promulgated on February 5. This year, many workers will enjoy the three-day break, initiating with the preceding Friday, January 31.

According to the Federal Labor Law, February 3 is considered mandatory holiday, providing rest for the majority of workers, who find this extended weekend the perfect opportunity for leisure and family activities. It was stipulated within the law, found under Article 74, which articulates the reasons for shifting significant holidays to their closest Monday, to allow for extended time off.

Major Holiday Approaching - Revolution Day

Revolution Day is celebrated on Monday, November 18, 2024
November 20th is the anniversary of the start of the 1910 – 1917 Mexican Revolution. The date is observed on the third Monday in November.
History of Mexico's Revolution Day
Revolution Day marks the beginning of the uprising against the settled regime in Mexico. The movement, instigated by national leader Francisco I. Madero, rose in arms against President Porfirio Díaz, who had been in power for over 30 years. After a series of rigged elections, suppression, and censorship, the final tick in the feather was the false declaration of the 1910 general election which clearly favored Madero.

Upset and angered, Madero launched a revolt against President Díaz in 1910. The famous document containing his declaration against Díaz, titled “El Plan de San Luis Potosí,” is also the origin of one of Mexico’s strongest political ideas, “sufragio efectivo, no re-eleción,” which translates to “effective suffrage, no reelections.” It also became a public proclamation of support for the rebels. The effort was joined by many more leaders, such as Pancho Villa and Venustiano Carranza, and garnered the support of affluent Mexicans who bore the brunt of Diaz’s failed economic policies. Diaz, spellbound and unprepared for the uprising, resigned the following year, effectively ending her three-decade reign on the nation. Although the revolution was a success, the country didn’t see peace until a decade later, when Carranza came into power in May 1917. Less than a month before that, Mexico had adopted a new constitution and a fresh emblem.

“Viva la Revolución!” and “Viva Mexico!” are heard. Stories are told or sung about the revolutionary heroes who ended the struggle and helped to reform Mexico. Festive foods include enchiladas, tostadas, tacos, and fajitas. The Mexican flag – a tricolor of green, white and red with the national coat of arms in the center of the white stripe – is flown on Revolution Day.

Revolution Day is a public holiday in Mexico. Banks, schools, government offices and many businesses are closed.
