Sometimes, the greatest gift is the gift of giving. 🎁
Today, we’re really celebrating Regina Edmondson, a Giving University graduate who hand delivered her $1,000 GivingU grant she earned through our course! ❤️
Regina chose SECOR Cares, an organization dedicated to caring for people experiencing suburban poverty, restoring hope and dignity, and helping guide individuals and families toward self-sufficiency.
But Regina didn’t just choose an organization from a list. She went there. She listened. She learned. She saw the work firsthand. 👏
Regina spent time at SECOR Cares with their Executive Director and team, toured their facility, and learned more about the communities and counties they serve.
She was especially moved by the intentional effort they make to welcome and support families who speak many different languages.
And then she saw the volunteers in action, unloading pallet after pallet, sorting fresh and shelf-stable foods, organizing diapers and essential items, and preparing an incredible variety of groceries for families in need. 🥖🥕🍼❤️
Her experience reminded her of something powerful:
Giving isn’t just about providing a gift. It’s about understanding who you’re giving to, why the work matters, and the people behind it.
After more than 20 years working in the nonprofit sector, Regina told us that Giving University gave her an entirely new perspective on how to evaluate nonprofit organizations and decide which organizations she could confidently support financially.
And then she summed up her experience beautifully:
“I left grateful for the gift of providing a gift.” 💙
