From Wales to Philadelphia, connected through the Power to Play! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿⚽🇺🇸

Together with Wrexham AFC Foundation, we’re proud to mark the first four cross-Atlantic Power to Play projects, expanding access to play at Penrose Elementary School through a new community-driven sports space.

Penrose now has a place for students and families to play, connect, and grow. Featuring a mini-pitch, basketball court, and elements shaped by local voices that reflect the school’s identity and will serve future generations.

As Principal Casciato shared the first time she saw the new pitch:

“This space reminds us of what’s possible. It reminds us that there really is a village surrounding our school and supporting our staff and our students.”

This opening marks the 11th play space completed through love.fútbol’s Philly Plays initiative, honoring the children of Philadelphia and the months of listening, collaboration, and co-creation that made it possible.

Huge thanks to Wrexham AFC Foundation , Philadelphia Union Foundation, School District Philadelphia , and the entire Penrose community for helping us turn a schoolyard into a true community hub.

The Power to Play is now part of Penrose’s story. ❤️

Extreme heat doesn’t just change the temperature. It changes who can play, when they can play, and whether a community sports space can be used safely at all.

In this episode of Streetside, Drew Chafetz explores three ways rising temperatures directly affect our mission: health and safety, lost hours of play, and inclusion.

The solutions will look different in every community, from shade structures to planting trees, but the principle remains the same: Local realities must dictate local solutions to local challenges. 🌳⚽

A special thank you once again to Laura Schifter, Jon Budish, and Josh Murphy for including us and hosting this important conversation.

I n this episode of Streetside with Drew, Drew talks about how love.fútbol is working across all three host countries of the 2026 World Cup, and why the true impact of a major sporting event should extend far beyond the tournament itself.

Hear directly from our CEO about the initiatives currently underway across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and how we are working to make sure communities are active participants in this global moment.

These initiatives are not designed to end when the final whistle blows or the inauguration ribbon is cut. They are being built to serve children and communities for generations.

And our vision does not stop in 2026.

We are already looking ahead to Brazil in 2027 and to the major tournaments of 2030, 2031, 2034, and beyond, working to build a new standard for the social legacy of global sport.

When the tournament ends, the real legacy begins.

It started with a vision. It was built hand-in-hand with the community. And today, it belongs to the future. 💙⚽

We are thrilled to look back at the inauguration of the revitalized 7th & Penn multi-sports courts. A celebration of a journey that began with local voices and represents the spirit of soccer to drive social good and strengthen connections.

From the 75+ volunteers who poured their passion into painting the vibrant “Exit 6” mural, a permanent tribute to Chester’s identity created by artist Tehran “Ran” Freeman, to every community member involved, this space reflects the pride and creativity of the people who made it possible. As shared during the inauguration:

“Exit 6 is more than just a highway. It’s community, it’s pride, resilience and it’s hope.”

This project, love.fútbol first partnership with an MLS club, is the result of a shared commitment to the community. We’re thankful to the Philadelphia Union Foundation, the Buckley Family, the Ron Jaworski Foundation, and the City of Chester for helping turn this vision into a place where people can connect, play, and grow for years to come.

Built for play. Made to last.

From the birthplace of Hip-Hop to the home of the Yankees, the Bronx continues to shape culture now with a new safe and inclusive space to play for the next generation.

Together with LALIGA and EA Sports, and delivered by love.fútbol, this new community pitch at P.S./M.S. 031 is more than a field, it’s a place where football, creativity, and community come alive every day, featuring a vibrant mural by Bronx artist Sotero Ortiz BG183.

On the ground, programs led by South Bronx United are designed to inspire the next generation through leadership, opportunity, and gender equality.

Built for the South Bronx. Inspired by its culture. Made for its future.

In Chester, Pennsylvania, the community is defined by its diversity, resilience, and the deep care neighbors have for one another. 💙

That spirit is what made this new chapter possible.

On Wednesday, June 24th, we celebrated together the opening of the revitalized multi-sport space at 7th & Penn, featuring a brand-new soccer field and basketball court. From the first kicks on the court on day one to the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the energy was electric!

This project marks a historic milestone as our first-ever MLS partnership, brought to life in collaboration with the Philadelphia Union Foundation, The Buckley Family, the Ron Jaworski's Foundation and the City of Chester.

Every step was designed not just for today, but to build a lasting community legacy.

Built for play. Made to last. ⚽🏀

The World Cup is about more than what happens on the field. It’s also about the connections, opportunities, and moments it creates in the host cities.
🌍⚽✨

Yesterday, we joined students and community members from Philadelphia’s District 7 for the Brazil vs. Haiti match in Philadelphia. It was a special opportunity to share the excitement of the World Cup together and celebrate the game that brings people across cultures and backgrounds. We were proud to share the moment with community members from FC Max Myers ⚽️, Kensington Soccer Club, and Conwell Middle Magnet School.

This reflects the power of collaboration in Philadelphia and shows how major sporting events can create meaningful connections beyond the stadium.

Thank you to FIFA World Cup 26 Philadelphia™ for making this possible through ticket access, and to Councilmember Quetcy Lozada championing community impact in Kensington.

We’re also grateful to City of Philadelphia, Kensington Soccer Club, and Street Soccer USA - Philly for their continued commitment to community collaboration in Philadelphia.
