SO, WHAT DOES JBARS ACTUALLY DO?

The problem - there are far too many animals in our community struggling with overpopulation, neglect, hunger and lack of access to veterinary care.

But there is a solution — and we see the difference it makes every day. Through free sterilization, medical care, education, feeding support and responsible adoption, JBARS is working to create lasting change for the animals of Jaltemba Bay.

The goal? A community where every animal has the opportunity to live a healthy life, be cared for and be treated with compassion and respect. This is why we do what we do.

Our video, Speaking for Those Without a Voice, tells the story of the problem we face, what we're doing about it, and ultimately, what we hope to achieve.

This is JBARS. ❤️ Volunteer powered. Community supported. Because every animal deserves a chance.

WELCOME TO JBARS

JBay Animal Resources Society (JBARS) is a registered Canadian charity made up of passionate volunteers dedicated to improving the health, care and treatment of animals in the Jaltemba Bay region of Mexico.

We believe every animal deserves a chance.

Our work focuses not only on helping animals in need today, but also on addressing the bigger issues of animal overpopulation and neglect in our community. We do this by offering:
- Free sterilization services
- Medical intervention
- Education & awareness
- Responsible adoption
- Support for community feeding efforts

But JBARS is really about community. It's the families who bring their animals to our clinics. The volunteers who give thousands of hours of their time. The veterinarians who care for them. The fosters who open their homes. The adopters who give them a future. And the donors who make so much of it possible.
Together, we're changing the lives of animals throughout Jaltemba Bay.

Welcome to JBARS. We hope you'll follow along. JBARS.org

I wanna share you a story about fostering to adoption. I found Lobo in 2024 in the back bush in the state of Morelos where I used to live. He was so happy and would come and greet me and my dogs every day on our walk and even though he apparently had a home, he was still seen at the gas station looking for food and was looking pretty skinny. So I started taking them food then I went to the coast for two months and when I came back, he was less energetic, super skinny, and I realized he needed to be saved. So I took him to the vet immediately got him checked out. He had kennel cough, and mucus coming out of his nose, which unfortunately, he gave to my dogs because we drove to the Pacific Coast the next day to live, but they all healed fine and he became a part of the pack. My intention was to foster him and not adopt him, but it took me a year and a half to finally realize I needed to find him a forever home. And wow, did he ever find a home! Through mutual connections from my home area. I drove this past summer back to Vancouver Island, and Lobo Met his forever family even his twin sister. I just got pictures of his updates and my heart is full. He is one happy pup and so is his family global loves kids and he needed a family with kids so that’s what he got. He also has a bonded sister that looks like his twin and it’s better for him up there too because he has thicker fur and needs to be in the northern element. Thank you, Julia and family for loving Lobo as much or even more than I did!

🐾 The work doesn’t stop when the clinics end. ❤️

Most people know JBARS for our massive sterilization clinics, and we’re incredibly proud of them. Twice a year, an amazing team of veterinarians and volunteers comes together, and in just four days we can sterilize up to 800 dogs and cats. It’s an incredible effort that changes the future for thousands of animals.

But what many people don’t see is everything that happens during the other 357 days of the year.

For those of us who live here full-time, and even our volunteers who return year after year, the work never really stops.

Yesterday was one of those days.

I spotted this little guy sitting on the side of the highway in front of my office in Guayabitos. He was painfully thin, exhausted, and had that look in his eyes that says, “I need someone to notice me.”

So I did.

I named him Pepe.

We took him straight to the veterinarian, where we learned he has Ehrlichia, a dangerously low blood count, and a long road to recovery ahead of him. Right now he needs medication, nutritious food, rest, and a whole lot of love.

Pepe is just one dog.

Tomorrow it may be another dog, a litter of abandoned puppies, an injured cat, or an emergency that none of us planned for.

This is why your donations matter so much.

Yes, they help make our life-changing sterilization clinics possible.

But they also help us say “yes” when an animal like Pepe crosses our path and has nowhere else to turn.

Every donation, every share, every volunteer, and every kind word helps us continue this work.

Thank you for believing that every life matters.

Welcome to the JBARS family, Pepe. We’re going to do everything we can to help you heal. ❤️

🚨🐾 ANOTHER LIFE SAVED 🐾🚨

This is exactly why JBARS exists.
Because of YOU… your shares, your donations, your encouragement, your monthly support, your random “hey I can spare 10/100/1000 bucks” messages… we were able to save another life today. ❤️

One more animal that doesn’t have to suffer.
One more soul that gets a second chance.
One more reminder that good humans still exist in this world.

Sometimes people think rescue is just cuddling puppies and posting cute photos… meanwhile behind the scenes it’s chaos, vet bills, transport, sterilization clinics, emergency surgeries, late nights, tears, and somehow surviving on caffeine and pure stubbornness. 😂

But THIS community keeps us going.

If you love what we do and want to follow the madness, the rescues, the clinics, the transformations, and the real behind-the-scenes of animal rescue in Mexico and beyond…

Come join our amazing community and follow our epic page:

And if you’ve donated before — seriously — THANK YOU.
You helped save a life today. Not metaphorically. Literally. 🐶❤️

Together we are changing lives one animal at a time.
And honestly? We’re just getting started. 🔥
