Chelem Puerto Apoyo Escolar We are a volunteer non-profit organization with a mission to pair students in need of support with a sponsor. Contact us to sponsor or donate!

Your sponsorship fee will pay for tuition, testing fees, textbooks, uniforms, shoes and school supplies. “Giving the Gift of Education”

Chelem Puerto Apoyo Escolar is a local community group working to provide support to the school age children of Chelem Puerto. Although education is free in Mexico, often times families in the community cannot afford to purchase the required uniforms, books, scho

ol supplies, transportation and testing fees to attend school. For the poorest of families, these costs are impossible and many children drop out at the 4th grade level in elementary school. The key to Chelem Puerto Apoyo Escolar program are the Sponsors that provide annual sponsorships that allows the program to make the purchase of school supplies/uniforms or to pay the book and testing fees at the higher grade levels. The Apoyo program matches a Sponsor to a family/child in need. We identify families that are committed to support the education of their children. The commitment of the family and the student in their education is reflected in their school grades. The cost of an annual sponsorships varies based upon grade levels:

• $2,400 MXP/~$110.00 USD for grade 4-6
• $3,100 MXP/~$155.00 USD for grade 7-9
• $4,200 MXP/~$210.00 US for grades 10-12

The sponsorship funds are used to purchase:
• A back pack;
• School supplies;
• Uniforms (shirts/polos, skirts/pants, and a pair of shoes);
• For the higher grades, funds are used for the testing fees and the purchase of school books. The program has a continuing need for new sponsors, if you are interested in supporting the program as sponsor, we ask that you use this link:

Chelem Puerto Apoyo Escolar es un grupo que trabaja para ayudar a brindar apoyo escolar a los estudiantes de Chelem Puerto que luchan por comprar los zapatos y uniformes necesarios, libros, útiles escolares y cuotas para asistir a la escuela. Los estudiantes en el programa deben tener y mantener un punto de calificación de 8 para calificar. Si usted es el padre o tutor de un estudiante que podría usar esta ayuda, puede descargar el formulario de solicitud o recoger uno en la biblioteca de Chelem:

Rumour has it the event is ALMOST sold out. We have passed around all remaining tickets to our local vendors.

El Bull Pen Restaurant & Bar Chelem is open today thru Thursday at 5pm.

Tacomaya has breakfast and lunch covered this week until 2pm.

Lizard Joes Yucatexa is open today and Friday from Noon until 10pm. (Closed Wednesday and Thursday)

Hank's Place Sports Bar & Grill opens at 3pm until 10pm Thursday thru Saturday this week.

We have an afternoon of great music, cold drinks and delicious food planned for you!

Atención, estudiantes de Cobay en el Programa de Apoyo:

Pueden retirar su reembolso de 1000 pesos el jueves 12 de febrero, de 18:00 a 21:00 h, en el restaurante El Bullpen.

Deben traer una fotocopia de su identificación para firmar que han recibido su reembolso.

Solo los estudiantes del programa pueden solicitar este reembolso.

We are one week away from the Taste of Chelem! Tomorrow is Super Bowl Sunday so while you are supporting the local restaurants make sure to pick up your tickets to the beach’s favourite party!

Hank's Place Sports Bar & Grill is airing the game and Veronica will be there to make sure you get your tickets.

Lizard Joes Yucatexa is also having a Super Bowl party.

Tacomaya and El Bull Pen Restaurant & Bar Chelem have you covered this week too.

¡Atención, estudiantes de Cobay! Me he enterado de que la escuela no nos permitió comprar los libros para los estudiantes. Todos los estudiantes deberán comprar sus libros y presentar un recibo para el reembolso. Estaré en Chelem del 9 al 13 de febrero y tendré que programar una fecha para ir a la biblioteca a realizar los reembolsos. Disculpen las molestias.

Debe proporcionar un comprobante de compra que incluya el nombre del estudiante, el nombre de la escuela, el número de semestre y el total pagado. No se realizarán reembolsos sin el comprobante de pago.

That’s right! The beach’s favourite band will be spending the afternoon with us for the Taste of Chelem! No one gets people moving and feeling happy quite like these guys. So get your tickets and get ready for a fantastic afternoon of music, food, beverages and Fundraising for the students of Chelem who rely on your support.
