Who We Are
People Helping People provides free English courses and materials to Cancun’s underprivileged children from Ages 6 on up including adults who are always welcome. We provide these classes and activities without compensation but rather through the goodness of our hearts and the desire to help others and the community we live in. Currently, we meet at San Miguel Archangel Catholic Church in Region 220. We are not a religious organization but are very respectful of all religions and grateful that Father Gerrado and this church provide a safe and consistent space for us to meet. We meet Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. And follow the basic school schedule regarding holidays and school vacations. Our Volunteers are the wheels that have moved this successful program for the past six years. We have had people from many countries help us and bring in school materials. We always welcome volunteers and visitors. We believe that if our children can begin to learn English, this knowledge will help them find better employment where English is a bonus, and thereby improve their economic standard of living. We also value building community and cultural relationships which bridge the gaps in our differences and highlight our common humanness. Our goal is to have each student who is preparing for his/her future and ready to leave our class to be able to carry on a basic conversation in English and have a better understanding of the value of helping others.
