The new Aticama Community Museum in Aticama, Matanchen Bay, Municipality of San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico is a joint project of the Junta Vecinal de Aticama (Aticama Neighborhood Council), the Centro Cultural Bahia Matanchen (Matanchen Bay Cultural Center), and the Ejido of Aticama. The concept of the community museum in Aticama originated with Dr. Rose Lee Patron, President of the Santa Cruz de Miram

ar Neighborhood Council and Noe Sanabia Castellanos, the Coordinator of Community Museums for the State of Nayarit. A temporary site for the new museum was located in Santa Cruz de Miramar while the search began for a permanent location along Matanchen Bay. The Ejido of Aticama graciously agreed to donate a lot and building to house the new museum.
