Year after year our community continues to contribute to our annual campaign. Together we have sterilized over 300+ cats in the community of Agua Prieta México. Educated communities, families and individuals on TNR as well.

Today we start our campaign for our Annual Sterilization campaign and ask our community to join us and help us by donating, sharing and spreading the news.

A single unsterilized cat can lead to hundreds of kittens being born on the streets.

Help us change that.

Our goal is to sterilize 120 cats in Agua Prieta and prevent thousands of future strays.

This past August I made a plea for cat food featuring a very hungry black and white kitty. Since that post this kitty has been spayed, given a name and set aside her fear of humans by venturing inside the caretakers house and claiming a seat at the dining table.
Her name is Chiquita. Which means small or little and fits her perfectly since she tiny, petite and adorable! She is also friendly and polite as she sits by the door to exit and do her business outside.
My heart is full watching this transition. What started as uncertainty for this kitty has blossomed into a true caretaker situation for her. She no longer goes hungry. She has freedom to go in and out of a house without getting shooed away and most importantly she is now truly loved.
My heartfelt appreciation to our supporters for continually showing up and allowing us to help these deserving Mexicats. 🫶🐈

I met this sweet mama during canvassing this past Saturday. She safeguarded her kittens while we talked with her caretaker.

Canvassing is an integral part of TNR. Gathering intel about the cats and caretakers is vital to our trapping efforts. Together after applying generous amounts of sunscreen and and set out to knock on mobile home doors. We successfully talked with people that feed and love the community cats in their neighborhood and welcomed the information regarding TNR.

We also educated people on the importance of spaying and neutering inside pets. Pet owners are admittedly keeping their female cats in closed rooms or kennels as birth control measures. We provided low cost options for sterilization services since anyone who owns a cat should have access to affordable vet care.

Canvassing in Tucson will take you to areas and neighborhoods that are filled with interesting characters. Once the initial cat connection is made you will know details of their lives and even get invited to have a cold one and a homemade burrito! These conversations will also add more hours of canvassing to your long list of areas that are filled with fed and loves cats in need of TNR.

We will be back in a few weeks to trap in this neighborhood. We have lots of good information and know the cats hangout for catching grasshoppers and moths. We know the caretakers have different names for the same cats and we definitely know this will be the last litter for this sweet mama. 🫶🐈

This is Pinta in perfect loaf position and recuperating from her spay surgery performed this past Monday.
Pinta is one of 9 cats that have been sterilized this year for one caretaker. Their story might be a familiar one. They rescued a few cats off the streets and they quickly multiplied. We have been working towards getting their whole clowder sterilized.
Even though things might seem quiet at times, we are here, helping cats, one by one, month by month, because every cat counts. 🫶🐈

I know it will sound cliché but the internet is a powerful thing. The internet has put me in contact with the most caring and wonderful people I have yet to meet in person.
The internet inspires...the internet brings people together...the internet helped us spay these 3 beautiful felines!!!
Rescatando Michis is an organization in Agua Prieta Sonora Mexico that takes in vulnerable cats off the street. They often find themselves caring for mamas with kittens that are dropped off in boxes at their doorstep or found in obscure places that are not safe for raising offspring. These three felines raised their last litters and support was needed to spay them.
I met Jasmine Flores via live meeting during our thank you event this past spring. She was the first to donate to the fundraiser for our second annual sterilization campaign and when she knew we had a need she sent a donation to cover all three spays.
I am forever grateful to the interwebs that have allowed us to make meaningful connections with people who love cats!
