🎓 Cohort One has officially graduated from the Job Readiness Programme! 🎉

Over six weeks, these incredible women and young people built real skills in digital literacy, business planning and financial management, from creating their first email accounts to developing full business plans of their own. 💻📊

One of the standout moments was the “Journey Game”, where participants navigated real-life financial scenarios and learned that success isn’t just about how much you earn, it’s about the choices you make along the way. 💡

Huge congratulations to every graduate! And a heartfelt thank you to our partners NAMA Women Advancement and the support of HeR Liberty for making this programme possible. 🙏

It’s official: we’re award finalists 🎉

The Sparkle Foundation has been named a finalist in the Community Building category of the 2026 .ORG Impact Awards, a global programme recognising mission driven organisations for the meaningful change they create in their communities.

This nod belongs to everyone who has been part of our journey in Zomba, Malawi: the women learning new skills, the children going to school, our staff and volunteers, and every donor, partner and supporter who has backed us along the way.

Winners will be announced on 6 October at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. Whatever happens next, we already feel like winners for being named among this year's finalists.

Programme update: Job Readiness

Our Job Readiness Programme has focused on strengthening participants' skills in business planning, management and operations through the Business Model Canvas.

Recently, participants developed canvases for their own businesses, analysed suitable organisational structures, and explored leadership skills, while identifying opportunities for growth through diversification, expansion and innovation.

They also assessed the day-to-day running of their businesses, brainstormed practical solutions to operational challenges, and learned how to calculate their break-even point, a key step in sound financial decision-making.

During a visit to Sakata, our team also stopped at the tailoring training site to deliver fabric, wraps, zips and thread. It was wonderful to see how far those trainees had come too, confidently practising dresses, skirts and blouses, and putting their new skills into real use.

Kitchen reveal 💖

Every morning, before the children arrived, our cooking team faced hours of smoke from open firewood, just to get breakfast and lunch on the table. It stung their eyes, it reached the classrooms, and it added to deforestation across Malawi.

We knew it had to change.

With incredible support from Garda World Security and Revo Realty we've transformed our ECD centre kitchen into a healthier, safer space, one that protects our cooking team, our children, and the environment around them.

This is what community and corporate partnership can build together. 💙

42 reasons to celebrate 🥳

On 22 July, 19 children graduated from our Sogoja ECD site. The next day, 23 more graduated at Namitembo. Two communities, one incredible milestone.

None of this happens without you. Every donor, every supporter, every person who believes in what's possible for these children made this moment real. Thank you! 💙

And there's more to come.

Registration for September is underway, with over 100 children enrolled so far across both sites. We've expanded our capacity to welcome even more learners, and a new classroom block at Namitembo means five classrooms ready from September, including dedicated space for our youngest learners.

Congratulations class of 2026, your future looks bright!
