CRECCOM is a local Malawian Non – Governmental Organization (NGO) based which has over 20 years of experience in social empowerment and community mobilization on a variety of social issues including; improving access and quality to education; child labour, HIV and AIDS prevention and mitigation as well as addressing issues of Gender Equality. The NGO was registered with the Government of Malawi un

der the Trustees Incorporation Act 5:03 on 4th April 1999. The NGO is also registered with the Council of Non-Governmental Organizations of Malawi (CONGOMA) as well as the NGO Board of Malawi.

𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗖𝗢𝗠 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲-𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗶

CRECCOM is taking part in a three-day stakeholder workshop in Lilongwe focused on strengthening Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) interventions under the Climate Resilient Health and Well-Being for Rural Communities in Southern Malawi (CHWBRC) programme.

The engagement has brought together partners including Save the Children Malawi, Catholic Health Commission, and officials from the Ministry Of Health - Malawi to build a shared understanding of the programme and contribute towards the development of an SBC Strategy aligned with Malawi’s national policies.

𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝘂𝗸𝘄𝗲𝗻𝗶

CRECCOM today convened a Community Based Trainers (CBTs) review meeting at Enukweni in Mzimba under the Social Protection for Gender Empowerment and Resilience (SP-GEAR) project, bringing together trainers to reflect on progress, share field experiences, and discuss strategies for strengthening community livelihoods and resilience.

The meeting provided a platform for learning, coordination, and reinforcing the critical role CBTs play in promoting savings groups, financial literacy, and gender-transformative approaches at community level.

The SP-GEAR project is funded by the European Union and the Government of Ireland through UNICEF; and CRECCOM is supporting implementation of the project in Mzimba and Zomba districts.

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀

What started as a simple village savings group in Chinombo Jere Village under T/A Mtwalo in Mzimba North has now become a growing symbol of determination, teamwork, and economic transformation.

The Manduweni Group, made up of 18 members (10 men and 8 women) was formed in December 2024 through support from Community-Based Trainers under the Social Protection for Gender Empowerment and Resilience (SP-GEAR) project.

The SP-GEAR project is funded by the European Union and the Government of Ireland through UNICEF; and CRECCOM is supporting implementation of the project in Mzimba and Zomba districts.

𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲

In Mzimba, the SP-GEAR project is transforming Social Cash Transfer beneficiaries into self-reliant households through a “cash-plus” approach that combines financial support with business skills training, village savings and loans groups, climate-smart agriculture, nutrition, and gender empowerment.

Supported by the European Union in Malawi and the Government of Ireland through UNICEF Malawi and implemented by Malawi Government with CRECCOM, the initiative is enabling communities to invest in income-generating activities, improve household nutrition, adopt sustainable farming practices, and upgrade living conditions, with many now moving from dependency to dignity and economic independence.

𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞

Young people in Malawi are moving from the margins to shaping the education policies that affect their future. Through its Collaborative Research and Action approach, CRECCOM, in partnership with the Network for Education Systems Transformation (NEST), has created space for youth to engage policymakers and highlight gaps between education systems, labour market needs, and real-life skills. At the center is the Youth Advisory Group (YAG), bringing together diverse young people to contribute to research and national dialogue.
