On 30-31 May 2026 MUST , CU , MUBAS and UNIMA Youthmappers chapters participated in a COMPREHENSIVE MAPPING AND SPATIAL ANALYSIS WORKSHOP at University of Malawi which was organized by Unima Youthmappers .

The workshop was led by Dr. Brent Mc Custer , Youthmappers Co-Founder and Training Coordinator who is also Professor of Geography from West Virginia University in USA and Davie Nthiya who is associate lecturer at UNIMA and former Youthmappers Regional Ambassador in South East Africa.

''I have learned different skills from practical sessions that challenged us to think. We discussed and learned why participatory Gis is important in field data collection and validation. Dr Brent also shared how best we can use GeoAl in Geographical analysis. l look forward to sharing the knowledge gained with fellow YouthMappers and practice the skills gained in my academic studies. What an era it has been. 🌍

Last week we had our YouthMappers farewell party, saying goodbye to some of our fellow mappers, including our president, Hope Matemba.

Honestly, it has been a pleasure growing and becoming mappers under your leadership. Thank you for the guidance, the energy, the opportunities, and the way you carried the chapter. A truly phenomenal leader.

To all the graduating mappers, thank you for the memories and moments we shared. Wishing you nothing but success in what comes next.

Ambiri akugona, Koma MUST youthmappers once again demonstrates its commitment to changing lives through mapping as the chapter zealously participated in African Map cup. Contributing on project #41324 (Community Resource Mapping for Resilience (TA Kalumbu)), it was truly remarkable to see so many young fellows unite to have an impact on their society. We truly don't just build maps, we build mappers. At the mapathon, members were also urged to not wait for huge mapathons like this to contribute, instead they should continuously work on various projects available on HOT tasking Manager. What a powerful way to kick off the semester! 🔥🔥🔥
Yesterday evening we held our very first YouthMappers meeting and the room was buzzing with curiosity, ambition, and fresh ideas. We created OpenStreetMap accounts, got JOSM installed and running, and laid out our plans for the semester ahead.

At YouthMappers, we don’t just build maps. We build mappers. 🌍💻✨
