In Tanzania, child mothers are not given the opportunity to finish their education after giving birth to their babies. Neema is the Swahili word for grace and we believe that we where brought together by the Grace of God to act as a family for these mothers and their children. At Neema mothers are supported during pregnancy and birth and get the opportunity to continue their education while also learning to care for their children.

Our Story

Neema is a Swahili word meaning Grace, for it is out of the grace of God that these plans were conceived and His grace makes it possible for us to start this NGO and do the work that God has called us to do.

In Tanzania, the law states that no teenager who becomes pregnant can continue her education in a government school. This law is being enforced very strictly. Girls in as young as 11 years old, are subjected to a compulsory pregnancy test at school twice per year, before exams are written. If a girl is found to be pregnant, she is expelled for life without a chance to return, even after her baby is born.

Neema Family will provide a safe place where vulnerable pregnant teenagers and child mothers can come to daily to get

two meals a day,
