Cornerstone Ministries Malawi Cornerstone Ministries’ vision is to create a better community in Christ where children and youth are empowered and their lives transformed.

Cornerstone Ministries is a local Christian organization which wants to help by working hand in hand with the government of Malawi , the Ministry of Education in providing Afterschool Programme, Summer Camp, Leadership and Entrepreneurial trainings to the Children and Youth of Salima. Cornerstone Ministries offices are located in Takumana, Salima. It’s focus schools are Karonga ,Msalula and Chimweta primary school. Cornerstone Ministries operates under the umbrella body of Urban Promise International which has proven to have more successfully years in Malawi since its establishment and operation. It has five well established sites in Malawi so far. And these are Christ Care Ministries in Area 25,Youth Care Ministries in Area 36,Rise Malawi Ministries in Madisi, Dowa ,Rays of Hope Ministries in Chiromoni, Blantyre and Project Teach in Luchenza. Cornerstone Ministries is the sixth site of Urban Promise International based in Salima. Through these ministries Urban Promise has seen a success in its programming, operations as well as to its beneficiaries.

We celebrate with our team at Cornerstone Christian High School as they mark another successful MSCE cycle! This year's Class of 2026 achieved a 65% pass rate, a true testament to the vision of academic excellence rooted in Christian values that we continue to invest in.

Called to Serve: Summer Camp 2026 is Underway!

We’ve had an exciting start to the Cornerstone After School Program Summer Camp 2026!

Since opening on Monday, our camp has been buzzing with energy as children gather to learn, play, create and grow together under this year's theme, "Called to Serve" (Mark 10:45), reminding us that Jesus came to serve and calls us to do the same.

The first two days have been filled with joyful singing, interactive Bible lessons, games, art, sports, mentorship and discovery sessions. Children explored God's purpose for humanity through the story of creation, expressed their creativity in art, learned about the fascinating lifecycle of a butterfly and even designed beautiful handmade doormats.

We are also delighted to be providing nutritious meals throughout the camp, ensuring every child is well nourished as they learn and enjoy the week's activities.

Attendance has been encouraging, growing from 97 children on the opening day to 144 on Day Two. None of this would be possible without our team of 13 camp leaders, the volunteers preparing meals and everyone working behind the scenes to make this camp a memorable experience.

We thank God for this wonderful beginning and look forward to seeing many more young lives encouraged, equipped and transformed over the coming days.

Something Beautiful Happened Last Weekend

Over the weekend, Cornerstone Ministries joined the UrbanPromise International (UPI) Summit at African Bible College in Lilongwe, held from 26th to 27th June 2026. The summit brought together staff and camp leaders from UPI affiliate ministries across Malawi, along with pastors and members of Hope Church from the United States.

Pastor James Lee opened the summit, unveiling this year's theme: "Resilience and Relevance for a Lasting Impact," based on Galatians 6:9. He reminded participants that we live in a lonely world and need each other, we become stronger and more resilient when someone stands with us. He also encouraged leaders to stay connected to the people who have shaped their lives, reminding everyone that each of us carries something the world needs.

Dr. Bruce Main, founder of Urban Promise International, added that sometimes the impact we hope for doesn't happen the way we imagined, but God writes a better story, even when it looks different from what we expect. He called this the "butterfly impact": small efforts today can grow into something much bigger.

Participants also learned from Mrs. Elizabeth Mpata on sharing the Gospel with children, Mr. Mark Chalamanda on mental health and emotional well-being, and Mrs. Rosemary Phiri on classroom management, alongside sessions on finding purpose and strengthening After School Programs.

We left the summit feeling inspired, encouraged, and equipped to keep serving children and communities with resilience and relevance for a lasting impact.

Last Friday, Cornerstone Christian High School, a ministry of Cornerstone Ministries Malawi, celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2026 under the theme, "Transformed by Learning, Prepared for Purpose."

The ceremony marked an important milestone for Form 4 students as they prepare to sit for the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations.

Guest of Honour, renowned media personality Joab Chakhaza, encouraged the graduates to embrace resilience, set clear goals, and pursue knowledge beyond the classroom. He reminded them that true success is shaped not only by academic results, but also by a lifelong commitment to learning, growth, and perseverance.

In his remarks, Cornerstone Director Danneck Falinya commended the students for their discipline and dedication throughout their academic journey. He also expressed appreciation to teachers and parents for their steadfast support, urging the graduates to uphold strong values and carry forward a spirit of excellence in all they do.

Cornerstone Christian High School is part of Cornerstone Ministries Malawi, affiliated with Urban Promise International, which is establishing Lonjezo University in Malawi. Speaking on behalf of the university, Dorothy Chijere encouraged the graduates to continue striving for academic excellence and highlighted emerging scholarship opportunities for high-performing students as Lonjezo University prepares to open its doors in January 2027.

The event brought together students, parents, staff, and invited guests in a joyful celebration marked by speeches, awards, testimonials, and performances.

As these young people move into the next stage of their journey, Cornerstone Ministries Malawi congratulates the 252 graduating students and prays for God’s guidance, confidence, and success as they prepare for their MSCE examinations.

Last Wednesday during lunch break at Cornerstone Christian High School, while most students were enjoying their meal and a bit of rest, Precious, one of our Form 1 students, chose to spend his time differently.

He gathered a small group of classmates and began teaching them Mathematics.

No teacher assigned him. He simply noticed that some of his friends needed help and stepped in. That is leadership in its purest form.

Meanwhile, Danneck, our Executive Director, was walking around and witnessed this gesture. He stopped and watched quietly. In that simple scene, he saw the vision of Cornerstone unfolding exactly as it was intended. This school was established to raise responsible, servant-hearted leaders. Young people who do the right thing even when no one is watching.

At the same time, we must be honest about the challenge before us.

Precious and his classmates are currently learning in an unfinished school block. The structure that will hold two classrooms and a computer laboratory is nearly complete, but it still requires a ceiling, paint, and desks. And as more families entrust us with their children’s education, our space is being stretched beyond its limits.

Our students are putting in the effort. They are disciplined. They are supporting one another. They are making the most of what they have.

Now we must rise to meet their commitment.

We are asking for your prayers and your active support to help us complete this block and provide a proper learning environment for these hardworking students.

Their passion deserves more than bare walls. Let us come together and finish this work. If you are part of the Cornerstone family, this is our moment to act.
