Today, Light of Hope Organization , under our "Strengthening Youth Sexual Reproductive Health Services Project",a 5-year project supported by the Scottish Episcopal Church conducted a Peer Educators Training on Sexual and Reproductive Health Services in Nkhata-Bay, Traditional Authority Malanda. The training gathered 20 young people from communities within T/A Malanda with the aim of equipping them to become SRHR champions among their peers. By building their knowledge and confidence, we are working to ensure more young people in Nkhata-Bay have access to accurate information and youth-friendly services without fear or stigma.
The training covered key SRHR topics including contraception, STI prevention, consent, healthy relationships, and the principles of confidential, non-judgmental care. Through role plays, group discussions, and Q&A sessions, peer educators strengthened their communication skills and learned how to address myths, offer basic counseling, and make referrals to health facilities.
With 20 new peer educators now trained, outreach activities will begin in T/A Malanda this month. Light of Hope will support them through mentorship and track referrals to youth-friendly clinics in Nkhata-Bay. We thank all participants, facilitators, and our partner the Scottish Episcopal Church (SEC) for making this possible.
