Future4All Strengthens Livelihoods Through Pig Distribution in a new location of Gwazasongwe Village

Future4All Malawi has taken a significant step in strengthening household livelihoods and promoting sustainable income generation through the distribution of pigs to selected beneficiaries under the Sustainable HIV and AIDS Reduction Project (SHAIRP). The activity took place in Group Village Head (GVH) Gwazasongwe, bringing together traditional leaders, government extension workers and project beneficiaries, underscoring the collaborative effort required to ensure the success and sustainability of livelihood interventions at community level.

Through the pass-on initiative, Future4All has distributed pigs to 10 initial households within the Gwazasongwe community. Each beneficiary received three pigs, consisting of one male and two females. The pass-on model is designed to ensure that the benefits of the intervention reach a wider group over time. Once the pigs reproduce, each of the initial beneficiaries is expected to pass on six piglets to two additional beneficiaries, with each new recipient receiving three pigs too.

A total of 100 individuals were identified as SHAIRP beneficiaries for 2026, all of whom underwent training in livestock management and business management. This capacity-building component is critical in equipping beneficiaries with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage livestock enterprises and translate them into viable sources of income.

To reinforce accountability and sustainability, the initial beneficiaries signed formal agreements guided by government standards, committing to uphold and implement the pass-on initiative. This structured approach ensures that the programme maintains integrity while fostering a culture of responsibility and community support and learning

The initiative is expected to gradually benefit 70 households within a space of two years creating a ripple effect of economic empowerment within the community. By integrating livestock production with knowledge in business management, the intervention aims to enhance household incomes, improve food security, and build resilience among vulnerable households.

Future4All Malawi envisions rural communities that are empowered, self-sufficient and resilient. Future4All Malawi embraces a people-centred approach to development, working to uplift the lives of marginalized children, women, and youth in rural communities by promoting inclusive, holistic, and sustainable education. This is in alignment with Future4All Malawi’s strategic focus on strengthening resilient livelihoods and empowering communities through sustainable interventions. It also contributes to the aspirations of Malawi Vision 2063, particularly in advancing agricultural commercialization and improving household welfare through inclusive and community-driven development approaches.

FUTURE4ALL MALAWI CHAMPIONS CLIMATE-SMART AGRICULTURE FIELD DAY IN NTCHEU

Future4All Malawi, together with Ntcheu District Agriculture Extension Coordinating Committee, lit up the district with a powerful Field Day under the theme “Climate Smart Agriculture & Crop Diversification: Key to Sustainable Food & Nutrition Security.”

Farmers, extension workers, and partners commenced a journey of conducting 25 field days that will be conducted in 25 demo farms reaching over 2,400 farmers—showcasing pit planting, mulching, swales, agroforestry, crop diversification, and drought-tolerant crops. These climate-smart practices proved their worth: crops survived January–February’s dry spell where others failed.

The Gwazasongwe Village lead farming family wowed delegates with visible results in productivity and resilience. High-level leaders, MPs, council reps, and organizations like World Vision, Save the Children, and Bayer joined to celebrate innovation and farmer-driven solutions.
Farmer groups also impressed with value-addition—banana crisps, potato products, nutritious cooking demos, soap-making, and more!

This milestone aligns with Future4All Malawi’s Strategy 2024–2028 and contributes to Malawi Vision 2063—empowering communities, building resilience, and driving sustainable agriculture.

Together, we’re proving that climate-smart farming isn’t just theory—it’s transforming lives and securing Malawi’s food future!

End of Term 2 Examinations Underway in our Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centres
All our five ECD centres are currently conducting their end-of-term 2 examinations, marking an important milestone in the learning journey of over 650 young learners. The assessments, which began this week, are aimed at evaluating the children’s progress in key early childhood development areas, including literacy, numeracy, Life skills, and cognitive development.
Children can be seen seated attentively in their classrooms, carefully working through their tasks under the instruction and guidance of their caregivers. Despite their young age, many learners are demonstrating confidence and enthusiasm as they engage with the exam activities.
According to the caregivers at Tinyenyezi ECD Centre, the examinations are designed to be child-friendly, reflective, and focused on tracking each learner’s developmental journey. They serve as an evaluation of what children have absorbed throughout the term. The activities include writing numbers and shapes, drawing, object matching, and simple problem solving tasks. Beyond gauging academic knowledge, these assessments provide valuable insight into each child’s overall developmental progress. “Our goal is not just to test the children, but to understand how best we can support their growth,” said Elida Naluso one of the caregivers. “We are proud to see how much they have improved since the beginning of the term.”
Break times during the examination period remain lively, with children engaging in play and social interaction, reflecting the balanced approach to learning that ECD centres promote, as well as having a nutritious porridge. This blend of structured assessment and play-based learning is key to fostering a positive and supportive environment for early childhood education.
The centre looks forward to sharing the results with parents and using the insights gained to further enhance the quality of care and ECD services provided to the children in the coming term.

Climate change is real. There is always a difference between those adapting and adopting and those not.

Future4All Malawi continues building resilience in rural communities in Ntcheu District through Climate-Smart Agriculture. Looking at the terrain in Ntcheu, farmers are encouraged to conserve the soil and its nutrients from being washed away and retain the scarce moisture through agroforestry, afforestation of the uplands, construction of swales, mulching, and further promoting the growing of drought-resistant crops.

With funding from the Egmont Trust, Future4All has distributed sweet potato vines and cassava cuttings to 100 families in Gwaza Village under the Sustainable HIV/ AIDS Impact Reduction Project (SHAIRP) in T/A Kwataine, Ntcheu District aiming at reducing the negative impact of HIV/AIDS and climate change on children, women and youth.

The project helps vulnerable families adopt sustainable agricultural practices that promote long-term resilience and improving access to Early Childhood Development services among HIV/AIDS affected under-five children.

The provision of sweet potato and cassava seed (vines and cuttings) will reduce overreliance on maize that is consistently affected by dry spells every year. The Sweet potato and Cassava will be used for consumption at the household level, feed children at the early childhood development centre, and for sale to improve household income.

Future4All Malawi loves children (Abwenzi A Ana). Sports and education are deeply interconnected in shaping a child’s overall development. When combined, they nurture not only physical growth but also cognitive, emotional, and social skills. Our school has a new soccer uniform.
