As a new year of the programmes begin we give thanks for all that was achieved, through God’s goodness, last year. As well as the programmes that run weekly:
* another cohort of Bible Access Course students completed the course and received their certificates at an award ceremony.
* the Bible Access Course instructors had a refresher day where they received further teaching on the module on The Trinity provided by Dr William Harrison along with an update on reporting and admin for the course from Dugald MacPherson.
* a new cohort for the Bible Access Course has been set up under the leadership of Rodgers Alufazema.
* all the Children’s Bible Club leaders attended a Refresh and Share event by zone. These were led by Davie Joe.
* new Training Helpers for three of the Ladies’ Ministries were trained and existing Training Helpers had a refresher course. There are now 2 Training Helpers for each discipline of Village Health, Crèche and Bible Study. This was led by Mary Mostishu and Blandina Zingapetti
* all the Ladies’ Ministries leaders attended a Refresh and Share event in either the centre, north or south of Nsanje District. At these meetings the Training Helpers were involved in training new leaders for groups with gaps in their leadership team. All the leadership teams are now at full strength. These meetings were led by Mary Mostishu.
* the ladies involved in Project Ana in each of the 9 groups knitted garments which were distributed in their communities.
* the Mthumba, Lundu and Boma Project Ana groups made school uniforms which were distributed in their communities.
* during January the ministry managers wrote reviews on their work, drafted forward plans and budgets.

Please pray for the continuing work, especially at this time when Malawi is facing increases in prices for most goods. The increase in price of fuel is of particular concern as this will soon begin to impact on the managers’ being able to travel to visit all the groups in the district. This is a vital part of their work which they do to encourage and delivered ongoing training to the leaders.

The photos are a selection from the Refresh and Train events.

The ‘strap line’ for Dòchas Ed is, “Bringing hope and transformation through education and training”. The main purpose therefore is to deliver training and the hope that the good news of the gospel of Jesus brings.
Ladies and children hearing and studying God’s word is dear to our hearts so ensuring that this is done consistently well and to the glory of God is important. To that end a training event for the Ladies’ Ministries Training Helpers was held in Nsanje Boma with 2 Training Helpers from each discipline of Crèche, Bible Study and Village Health. Each discipline has a Training Helper in the north and south of the area Dòchas Education where groups meet. Blandina Zingapett joined Mary Mostishu, the Ladies Ministries manager for this training event. Thanks to Mary and Blandina for conducting this training event, to the Training Helpers for the work they do and to our prayer and financial supporters who contribute to making these events possible.

Mary, Ladies’ Ministries Manager, and Davie, Children’s Ministries Manager, visited Dinde recently to distribute the school uniforms made by the Boma group. Thanks to the ladies who made the uniforms to make this distribution possible.
Costs in Malawi have increased substantially (some figures indicate as much as 40%) and this has impacted greatly the amount of cloth for school uniforms and yarn for sweaters that we can buy. To continue to donate uniforms and sweaters at the same rate as before more funds are required to meet the increased costs. If you feel like donating to this please do so by marking your donation ‘Project Ana’. Donations can be made to CAF Bank, Sort code: 40-52-40 Account number: 00019103. Thank you!

It is so good to hear the children singing! The CBC manager, Davie Joe, equips and encourages the club leaders during his regular visits by adding to the repertoire of worship songs for the children. He also introduces new games using locally available resources. Please continue to pray for Davie, all the CBC leaders and the children. Thank you.

Mary Mostishu, Ladies’ Ministries Manager; Davie Joe, Childrens’ Bible Club Manager and Rodgers Alufazema, Bible Access Course Supervisor are getting used to and enjoying the new way of working (WFM - working from home!). They take it in turn to host the monthly team meeting and in August they met at Mary’s home. Earlier in the summer Mary and Davie also enjoyed attending a 3 day conference in Mponela on ‘Portraits of Christ in the Law…….Types and Shadows in Exodus and Numbers’. This was kindly funded by Barnabas Brothers.

Another cohort has completed the 12 module Bible Access Course in 9 different locations. Our congratulations to those who received either a Certificate of Completion or a Certificate of Attendance. Thanks to the instructors for faithfully delivering the course and they will take a two month break after all the post course paperwork is completed before undertaking refresher training in preparation for the next cohort.
Below is a selection of photos taken after the award ceremonies.

July sees exciting new changes however, it is also bittersweet as the office space in Nsanje closes with the transfer of the library and management function to Jars of Clay, Mponela. We give thanks to God for His leading and guiding as the ministry goes forward. Thanks too to everyone who worked in the Nsanje office over the years.
The Dòchas Education Trust ministries in Nsanje of Bible Access Course (BAC), Children’s Bible Clubs (CBC) and Ladies’ Ministries (LM) continue in the capable hands of Rodger Alufazema, Davie Joe and Mary Mostishu respectively. They are excited to continue and develop the work in Nsanje and have been set up to wfh - work from home.
Henry will continue as one of the BAC instructors as he resumes his full time role as a church pastor.
Thanks again to Osborne for his invaluable service in facilitating the move!

Davie Joe, the CBC manager, held a Refresh and Share training event on Saturday for the club leaders at Tengani Station. The leaders and helpers from the 6 clubs in the area were there along with a village chief and a pastor.
The leaders and helpers greatly appreciated the time together to share testimonies, ideas and prayer requests. They also appreciated the reminders about the function, aims and purpose of the clubs. The village chief and pastor were enthused by what they heard and willingly accepted some ownership of what is being done.
The biggest challenge to the Children’s Bible Clubs at the moment is the unavailability of more Children’s Bibles in Chichewa - please pray that this will be resolved soon.
