Growth takes time, care, and patience.

As part of the regular monitoring of the Permaculture Project, the ECOSID team checked on the trees at the project site to see how they are growing.

The trees are growing well, and it is encouraging to see the progress being made. Regular monitoring helps us see how the trees are doing and identify where more care may be needed.

A small tree today can grow into something that benefits the environment and the community for many years to come.

Community Engagement for the Tikweze Program

To introduce the Tikweze Programme to communities and promote their participation and ownership, Entrepreneurs Community Solutions and Innovative Development (ECOSID), together with Umunthu Plus and Malawi Community Hubs, engaged Village Development Committee (VDC) members and community members in Traditional Authorities Mwadzama and Malengachanzi.

The meetings provided an opportunity for communities to learn more about the Tikweze Program, its objectives, and the opportunities it seeks to create for young people, women, and communities.

The discussions also focused on the planned interventions, the role of VDCs in supporting community mobilisation, and how communities can actively contribute to the successful implementation and sustainability of the program.

ECOSID recognises that successful community development requires communities to be involved, informed, and empowered. The VDCs will, therefore, play an important role in community mobilisation, communication, coordination, and supporting Tikweze activities at the community level.

As ECOSID continues to implement Tikweze with its partners, we remain committed to working closely with local structures and communities to ensure that the programme responds to community priorities and creates opportunities that will be sustain beyond the project period.

Iwowatu, ntchito yawo imakhudza kwambiri pomvetsera mwachidwi, kuyankha mafunso omwe achinyamata amakhala akufunsa, kulongosola momveka bwino nkhani zina zabodza zomwe achinyamata amazikhulupilira komanso kulimbikitsa anthu m'madera mwawo kuti adzipita kuchipatala kukalandira thandizo loyenerera pomwe pafunikira kutero.

Kudzera mumkukambilana kumeneku kwa tsiku ndi tsiku, ma peer educators-wa akuthandizira kuti nkhani zokhudza ubereki wabwino ndi kugonana (SRH) zidzikambidwa poyera komanso momasuka ndiponso kuti njira zamakono zakulera zikupezeka ku madera awo.

ECOSID INVITES BIDS FOR SOLAR IRRIGATION SYSTEM IN MPAMANTHA

ECOSID invites qualified suppliers and contractors to submit bids for the supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of a solar-powered irrigation system in Mpamantha, T.A. Malengachanzi, Nkhotakota District.

The irrigation system will include:

- Solar array and panels
- Solar-powered water pump
- Elevated Water storage tank
- Field water distribution system

The project forms part of the Tikweze Achinyamata Project.

📢We are pleased to announce that the Tikweze Programme, a joint initiative by Malawi Community Hub, Umunthu Plus, and ECOSID, has been presented and approved by the Nkhotakota District Executive Committee (DEC).

The programme will be implemented in TA Mwadzama and TA Malengachanzi, focusing on early childhood development, women’s economic empowerment, and youth economic and civic empowerment.

As part of the programme, ECOSID will focus on empowering young people through economic and civic opportunities, including a solar fish-drying hub in TA Mwadzama and a solar-powered irrigation hub in TA Malengachanzi These initiatives will support young people to develop skills, create sustainable businesses, and improve their livelihoods.

We are grateful to the Nkhotakota District Executive Committee and all stakeholders for their support and commitment. We look forward to working together with communities and partners to create meaningful and lasting change through the Tikweze Programme.

🧑🏽‍🤝‍🧑🏽 YOUTH AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

The youth awareness campaign held at Msamala Primary School Ground in Traditional Authority Mwadzama brought young people together to learn, connect, and access important sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) information and services.

Through health education sessions and youth-friendly activities, participants discussed issues affecting young people, including teenage pregnancy, and the importance of making informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health. The campaign also provided an opportunity for young people to engage in football and netball, creating a safe and interactive environment for learning and peer engagement.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 YOUTH AWARENESS CAMPAIGN/ MSAMALA PRIMARY SCHOOL GROUND

Today, we are at Msamala Primary School Ground in Traditional Authority Mwadzama for a youth awareness campaign responding to concerns over the increase in teenage pregnancies among girls in some parts of Nkhotakota District.

The activity brings together awareness and youth-friendly services, including:

🩺 SRHR services
📚 Health education talks
⚽ Football
🏐 Netball

The programme starts at 1:00 p.m. and will provide a space for young people to access information and services while taking part in activities that bring them together.
