Celebrating Skills, Opportunity, and the Power of Work

This International Workers’ Day, we celebrate the determination and resilience of 60 young people who are building their futures through skills training and hard work.

At Njira Impact, youth are being equipped with practical, life-changing skills in Welding and Fabrication, Solar and Photovoltaic Energy, Bamboo and Cane Culture, and Agriculture and Farming.

These are not just trades—they are pathways to dignity, income, and independence. From shaping metal in workshops to designing bamboo products, installing solar systems, and working the land, these young people are turning knowledge into opportunity and dreams into reality.

This is a follow-up on the progress of Titukulane Youth Group in Mpamantha under the Tipindule – Youth and Women Productive Income Ventures initiative.

A total of 24 young people (15 females and 9 males) participated in the training. It has been encouraging to see their strong interest and commitment as they learned step-by-step farming techniques, proper mixing of farm inputs, and how to apply these skills on their own individual farms.

To help them put their knowledge into practice, the group received essential farming inputs including rice seed, bean seed, maize seed, mustard seeds, tomato seeds, hoes, sprayers, and fertilizer.

This work is helping young people build confidence, gain practical farming skills, and support their communities through sustainable agriculture.

Today, we are proud to see their skills growing and their efforts beginning to make a difference.

Project Update | Malawi RCT Rollout in Zomba

Njira Impact conducted key stakeholder engagements for the rollout of the Facilitated Collective Action Process (FCAP) under the Malawi RCT program in Zomba District last week and this week sharing updates on the RCT rollout and clarifying implementation approach for the first FCAP arm. The team engaged the District Technical Working Group, District Executive Committee (DEC), as well as Area Development Committees (ADCs) to introduce the first arm rollout and strengthen coordination with district and community structures. Through these engagements, stakeholders expressed strong support for the initiative and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to ensure transparency, accountability, and sustainable community impact.

The Malawi RCT will be implemented across 144 villages in Zomba District, with the first phase focusing on the FCAP arm covering 48 villages in 14 Traditional Areas. The FCAP arm will support 48 villages with MK20,400,000 Microgrant to identify and implement community-driven livelihood projects through a participatory collective action process over the next 22 months.

With the support of Spark MicroGrants, the initiative will empower communities to identify their own priorities, mobilize local leadership, and implement solutions that strengthen livelihoods, economic resilience, and sustainable development.

Njira Impact remains committed to working closely with district authorities and community leadership to support locally driven development solutions that strengthen livelihoods and community resilience.
