Watching our teachers laugh, dance, play volleyball, and enjoy the boat ride was a beautiful reminder that education is built on more than lessons and textbooks.

The strongest learning happens through connection, trust, and shared experiences. These are the moments that help children feel seen, valued, and supported.

Today, we celebrate the teachers who are the heart of our program. It’s not only for what they teach, but for the joy, encouragement, and sense of belonging they bring to every child’s journey.

Because behind every confident child is a teacher who chose to show up with both knowledge and heart

Not many travelers expect this…

Like many of our guests, you might be surprised to find such clear water, quiet beaches, beautiful views, and so few tourist crowds here in Nkhata Bay.

You can spend your days kayaking on Lake Malawi, swimming, hiking, exploring the local community, or simply enjoying the view.

And then there’s the warmth of the people, something our guests often remember just as much as the lake.

Save this for your next adventure and share it with someone you’d love to explore Malawi with. 💚

Earth Workshop at Butterfly Space, we are raising and promoting different types of trees because each species plays an important role in environmental conservation and restoration.

Jackfruit (Katope) and Leucaena (Mkuyu) are among the trees we promote for their contribution to healthy ecosystems, including supporting soil health, protecting water sources, and strengthening the resilience of our environment.

Other species are nitrogen fixing trees, helping to improve soil fertility while also providing useful resources such as firewood and timber.

As the tree planting season approaches, we are preparing our nursery for our next community planting. By raising and sharing these seedlings, we are helping to restore ecosystems, improve soil health, support biodiversity, and promote more sustainable livelihoods within our communities.

Do you know how precious is your poo 💩 when you use compost toilet ?

When a mixture of ash and saw dust is added to it , your poo becomes a fertilizer.

Compost toilets are not only eco friendly, but they also help to save thousands liters of water annually by not flushing .

This August season is the best time to visit butterfly space and learn more about compost toilet or experience one yourself. 💧
