Today marked the start of our After-School Program at Mwaya Primary School, and this is how we begin:

STD 5 – 26 learners
STD 6 – 23 learners
STD 7 – 45 learners
Total: 94 children.

The smiles on their faces said everything. The excitement, the hope, the willingness to learn it’s all there. And so is the commitment from our volunteer teachers who showed up ready to make a difference.
We know these numbers will grow, because the need is real.
Right now, our biggest gap is stationery. Many of these children do not have the basic materials they need to fully participate.
If you can, please support us with:

Exercise books
Pens & pencils
Chalk & markers

Every small contribution makes a real impact.
Let’s give these children the tools they need to succeed. 💜

The road was flooded today. But the women still showed up.
Heavy rains made it difficult to access the meeting point the road was completely flooded.
For many, that would have been enough reason to cancel.
But not for these women.
They walked through the challenge because they understand what these meetings represent.
Every week, the Mothers Circle is more than just a gathering:

it is a space to speak openly
to support each other emotionally
to find solutions together
and now, to build small income activities that support their families

This level of commitment is not common.
It shows that what is being built here is not dependent on external motivation it is owned by the women themselves.
Even in difficult conditions, they continue to show up for each other.
That is where real change starts.

Talk. Heal. Grow.

We’ve secured and prepared our SSSA office space 🙏🏽
Now we are turning it into a functional support center for children and single mothers.
Instead of general donations, we are doing something practical:
You can sponsor a specific item for the office.
This way, you know exactly what your contribution is building.
Here are some of the immediate needs:

🪑 Chair
📚 Stationery pack
🧺 Storage box

If you would like to sponsor an item, comment or inbox me.
Let’s build this space together, one item at a time.

We had the opportunity to present Safe Space Support Africa (SSSA) to the District Executive Committee (DEC) in Nkhatabay.
This is an important step as we work to align our programmes with district structures and continue supporting women, caregivers, and children in our communities.
From a small start to a growing initiative, we remain committed to building practical, community-led solutions that create real impact.
Thank you to everyone supporting this journey.

📚 Call for Support, Third Term After-School Program
We have officially started preparing for our third term after-school program at Mwaya Primary School.
Each term, over 120 children rely on this program for learning support in English, Mathematics, Science, and Mental Health.
As we prepare for the new term, we are in need of stationery supplies to ensure every child can fully participate.
We are calling on well-wishers to support us by donating items such as:
Notebooks
Pens and pencils
Erasers and sharpeners
Any basic learning materials
Many of these children come without the tools they need and this directly affects their ability to learn and stay engaged.
This is where you come in.
Your contribution will directly equip a child to learn, participate, and stay in school.

They didn’t wait for help. They started with what they had.

The women in our Mothers Circle are proving that change is possible, even with very little.

They came together, shared their struggles, and decided to take action.

They raised their own money.
They bought sugar.
They sold it.

Now they have grown.

They have bought:
• sugar
• bathing soap
• salt

Each woman is now selling within her community to earn income and support her family.

This is more than just business.

This is:

women refusing to give up
mothers creating opportunities for their children
a community choosing to move forward together

We are proud of their determination and commitment.

This is just the beginning.

Talk. Heal. Grow.

Yesterday, I visited one of the women in our Mothers’ Circle.
She is heavily pregnant.
She is raising two teenage boys who have already dropped out of school.
Her youngest son was sent away to stay with a relative to protect him from following the same path.
Her husband is struggling with substance use.
She is trying to hold everything together on her own.
This is the reality many women are facing, not because they failed, but because they never had real support systems.
During our conversation, I managed to convince one of the boys to go back to school.
The other refused.
This is what people don’t see: Change is slow.
It is not linear.
And it requires consistent presence.
Through our Mothers’ Circles, we are not just talking we are building small income activities, support systems, and accountability within the community.
There is still a long way to go.
But this is where real change starts.

Today was not just a meeting. It was a signal.

Over 300 community members gathered after a local chief invited Safe Space Support Africa to speak. What started as an introduction quickly turned into a powerful, honest conversation about the realities women and girls are facing.

Early pregnancies.
School dropouts.
Women raising families without support or income.

These are not statistics. These are lived experiences shared openly in that space.

What stood out most is not just the scale of the problem but the willingness of the community to engage and take action.

Over 150 people registered interest to join our programs on the spot.

This is exactly why Safe Space Support Africa exists: to build community-driven solutions that go beyond talk and create real pathways for support, stability, and economic empowerment.

The work now begins.

We are moving immediately into structuring smaller working groups, starting with Mothers Circles and after-school support programs.

This is not a one-day event. This is the foundation of something long-term.

If you are working in community development, gender equality, or grassroots implementation and are open to collaboration or partnership let’s connect.
