Today, Dreamcatchers Foundation welcomed Mr. Kadya from DMI–St. John the Baptist University, Lilongwe Campus, for a routine IPTR monitoring and assessment visit.

The visit focused on assessing the progress, performance, professional development, and practical learning of Stonard Moffat, a Bachelor of Social Work student undertaking his IPTR placement with Dreamcatchers Foundation.

The assessment provided an opportunity to review his involvement in our programmes and activities and reflect on the knowledge and skills gained throughout his placement.

Dreamcatchers Foundation remains committed to supporting students in bridging academic learning with practical experience and professional development.

Community Youth Engagement

Today, Dreamcatchers Foundation was honoured to be invited by the Nkhata Bay District Youth Office and the Youth-Friendly Health Services at Nkhata Bay District Hospital to attend a youth-focused event held at Kanthete Youth Club.

The event provided an important platform for young people to access information, engage with service providers, and discuss issues affecting their health, well-being, leadership, and personal development.

We appreciate the Nkhata Bay District Youth Office and Youth-Friendly Health Services for creating spaces where young people can freely engage, learn, and access essential services. As Dreamcatchers Foundation, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that empower young people, promote informed choices, and strengthen meaningful youth participation in community development.

Dreamcatchers Foundation at the National Youth Summit

Dreamcatchers Foundation has been well represented by our Head of Programs, Mr. Wakisa Damiano Mwalwanda, at the 2026 National Youth Summit from Day One to Day Three.

We sincerely appreciate his commitment and valuable contribution throughout the Summit. Thank you, Sir, for representing Dreamcatchers Foundation so well.

Today, Mr. Mukiwa, a supervisor from DMI–St. John the Baptist University, Lilongwe Campus, visited Dreamcatchers Foundation to monitor and assess two students from the university who are currently undertaking their Industrial Practical Training and Research (IPTR) with our organization.

During the visit, the supervisor assessed the students’ progress, performance, professional conduct, and overall engagement in their assigned roles. He was highly impressed with their professionalism, commitment, discipline, work ethic, and the progress they have demonstrated throughout their placement.

Mr. Mukiwa also expressed his appreciation to Dreamcatchers Foundation for providing the students with a supportive and professional environment where they can apply their academic knowledge, gain practical experience, and develop essential workplace skills.

DAY TWO | NATIONAL YOUTH SUMMIT

Day Two of the 2026 National Youth Summit provided valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges facing young people in Malawi.

Our Head of Programs, Wakisa Damiano Mwalwanda, representing Dreamcatchers Foundation, participated in discussions on youth entrepreneurship in agriculture, mining, youth participation, access to financing, information, markets, and meaningful engagement in decision-making.

A key takeaway was that young people need more than encouragement to work hard. They need accessible financing, relevant information, supportive systems, and opportunities to participate as active partners in development.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of ensuring that young people and adolescents are meaningfully involved in designing programmes and decisions that affect their lives.

At Dreamcatchers Foundation, we remain committed to advancing youth empowerment, meaningful participation, entrepreneurship, and inclusive development.

We don't just want a seat at the table we want to be active partners in shaping the decisions made at that table.

DAY ONE AT THE 2026 NATIONAL YOUTH SUMMIT

Our Head of Programs, Wakisa Damiano Mwalwanda, is proudly representing Dreamcatchers Foundation at the 2026 National Youth Summit at BICC, Lilongwe.

Day One featured insightful discussions on youth development, economic inclusion, leadership, standards, and national development, bringing together young people, policymakers, development partners, and other key stakeholders.

We are particularly encouraged by the emphasis on creating opportunities for young people to actively contribute to Malawi’s development. The day also celebrated the resilience and talents of Malawi’s youth through inspiring stories and performances.

As the Summit continues under the theme “Accelerating Progress: Reflecting on Impact, Expanding Prospects for Youth Development in Malawi,” we look forward to meaningful conversations and opportunities for action.

CAREER TALK AND GUIDANCE EXERCISE

You are all informed and invited to attend a Career Talk and Guidance Exercise organised by TEVETA National Office in Nkhata Bay District on Wednesday, 19 August 2026.

The schedule is as follows:

9:00 AM – Mpamba Trading Centre

11:00 AM – Chintheche Trading Centre

During the exercise, the TEVETA team will provide application forms and information about the various programmes offered by TEVETA.

Everyone is encouraged to patronise these events, especially young people and school leavers who are interested in pursuing technical and vocational education and training opportunities.

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Thula Youth Network to our offices for a productive discussion on potential areas of collaboration and partnership.

The Thula Youth Network is doing great work in communities, particularly in engaging and empowering young people. They also shared plans to host a Youth Open Day on 5 September at Lukalazi Primary School in Nkhata Bay District.

We look forward to exploring meaningful ways to work together in empowering young people and strengthening community development.

We are delighted to announce that our Head of Programs, Wakisa Damiano Mwalwanda, has been selected as a Youth Delegate for the 2026 National Youth Summit, taking place from 18–20 August 2026 at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC), Lilongwe.

We are proud to see one of our leaders representing Dreamcatchers Foundation and contributing to national dialogue on youth development, leadership, climate action, and sustainable development.

EMPOWERING RURAL YOUTH

Before we roll out our upcoming youth empowerment projects, we are committed to ensuring that young people in rural communities are not left behind.

To create a strong platform for youth participation and ensure that more young people benefit from our upcoming initiatives, we are establishing youth clubs in rural communities where young people can connect, learn, access opportunities, and take part in community development.

Today, we are proud to announce the formation of the Matawa Youth Club in rural Msongwe, Mzuzu.

This marks another important step in our commitment to reaching young people where they are and creating opportunities that can contribute to their growth, leadership, entrepreneurship, and empowerment.
